when in Zoom both the sound and my microphone randomly auto mute. I can unmuted them using f5 and f8 buttons but it will later auto mute again. There appears to be no pattern to the amount of time it stays on. Sometime 1 minutes sometimes as many as 10. I do not use any other meeting platforms so don't know if this is a Zoom problem or a microsoft problem. I am using an HP probook computer that is less than 6 months old. In Microsoft 10 software.

We are having this problem too on brand new Lenova Yoga laptops. We thought we got around the problem by using headphones with a mic but the problem started up again the other day, even with headphones. Mic works in all other applications and on audio test when this happens - just not in Zoom. It is infuriating!
They could well be correct, however its VERY finicky then.
I had it turn itself to mute when everything was quiet (my meeting attendees were waiting for someone to join and not talking) . I am not quite sure what triggers it. I suspect its something a bit more subtle with sound and feedback. Or something in a range of sound that I can't hear?
Tough to say.
However, it NEVER happened with my headset on, so that is definitely the manual workaround.

My colleague worked on this with Zoom and here is the information that he has provided to our coworkers.
"Zoom Tip for anyone that is having audio issues regarding your mic or speakers being muted randomly. This seems to be prevalent on HP laptops. This comes straight from Zoom support:
"It sounds like echo cancellation kicking in. If you have open speakers (built-in for the laptop) and built-in mic. To avoid terrible echo, your microphone is muting itself, if you are not manually doing so. I'd recommend lowering the volume [of your speakers] or using a headset to avoid that."
Hey, I am having this issue also with a Lenovo Flex 14 2-in-1 Convertible Laptop, AMD Ryzen 5 3500U Processor. The fix posted worked for like 1 week then it stopped work. Also when I use the fix the volume in zoom is very quiet and doesnt change when I adjust it.
Curious to know if any of these HP Probook 450 G6 mentioned on this thread have an AMD Ryzen chip and/or Radeon graphics card. we have HP Probook 450 G6 with Intel chip but starting to purchase a few that have the AMD chip and Radeon graphics card in them and these are the ones that are affected with this issue.
All of the HPs we have are Intel and they are affected.
