when in Zoom both the sound and my microphone randomly auto mute. I can unmuted them using f5 and f8 buttons but it will later auto mute again. There appears to be no pattern to the amount of time it stays on. Sometime 1 minutes sometimes as many as 10. I do not use any other meeting platforms so don't know if this is a Zoom problem or a microsoft problem. I am using an HP probook computer that is less than 6 months old. In Microsoft 10 software.

Meritt Technologies (Greenville SC) just resolved this annoying problem with my HP Probook 450 G6 by updating the audio and video drivers, specifically:
1) NVidia 2019 GeForce Video Diver 64bit
2) Intel Management Engine Driver
3) Intel Video Driver and Control Panel
4) Realtek HD Audio Driver
I'm having an issue with a relatively new Lenovo Ideapad so definitely NOT a computer issue.
This is a Zoom issue or perhaps a Zoom / Microsoft issue.
I have the same problems and I am on an ASUS laptop, using Yeti usb mic. No problems with internal mike of webcam mike. It is DEFINATELY a ZOOM issue.

I believe this issue has nothing to do with your HP machine. I have a similar problem with an Asus Sonic Master but still, have the same problem. The problem is not only with zoom but with all Virtual VC web applications. I believe this is a bug we have with windows 10 Home edition and the VC system. What I do to fix this issue is to flip in my sound and mic setting my output and input devices when it happens. I know it is frustrating to do that every 10 to 15 mins but that is the way I take may corrective measures. I hope this will help you for the moment.
We are having this problem too on brand new Lenova Yoga laptops. We thought we got around the problem by using headphones with a mic but the problem started up again the other day, even with headphones. Mic works in all other applications and on audio test when this happens - just not in Zoom. It is infuriating!
