According to this post it should be fixed already in Insiders Build (currently Dev Channel only).
Airpods Pro: very bad quality in Headset mode on Windows 10
Dear all,
I've got my new Airpods Pro, they work well with my iPhone.
Also on Windows 10 via bluetooth, sound quality is good when using the "Airpods stereo" mode.
However, in the headset mode ("Airpods Hands-Free AG Audio") sound and especially microphone quality is extremely bad. I tried to change the default format (see screenshot, it's only 8000Hz), but I cannot change it as it's grey. Any advice to get a better microphone quality?

2021-03-19T23:45:55+00:00 Only downside that I have found so far is that if I want to switch audio on my airpods from my PC to my iphone, ipad, or Macbook Air, it won't let me connect when the Avantree DG80 is plugged into my PC. I have to remove that dongle from the USB port and then I can connect to my other airpods to my Apple devices like normal. Let me know if anyone with the DG80 knows of a different solution.
you can't pair the airpods to 2 devices at the same time so yes, you have to stop pairing on your PC before you can pair with your iPad etc. It's the airpod's problem not the DG80

2021-03-26T14:02:36+00:00 Thank you very much ! I bougth the DG80 and it works great !
The only thing is that I had to update the firmware of the DG80, before that the mic was not working.

2021-04-02T19:33:40+00:00 that's not a fix at all. I need the microphone to work as well. You obviously haven't read this thread because I've already mentioned this.
there is nothing us as users can do about this. The Windows devs are the only ones who can fix it and I do not understand why they haven't. Bluetooth headsets work fine on Macs, Android and IOS but not on Windows...it's unbelievable to me.
the thread user said he doesnt need the microphone to work, this is the answer to his problem, the only one who needs to read the thread is you, maybe stop being so selfish, the world doesnt revolve around spoiled people like you

the whole thread is about using headset mode which includes using the microphone. please show me which "thread user"(?) said they don't need the microphone.. and how in any way was my response "selfish"? if you don't understand a particular issue, it's best not to post because you only expose your ignorance.
