Airpods Pro: very bad quality in Headset mode on Windows 10

Dear all,

I've got my new Airpods Pro, they work well with my iPhone.

Also on Windows 10 via bluetooth, sound quality is good when using the "Airpods stereo" mode.

However, in the headset mode ("Airpods Hands-Free AG Audio") sound and especially microphone quality is extremely bad. I tried to change the default format (see screenshot, it's only 8000Hz), but I cannot change it as it's grey. Any advice to get a better microphone quality?

According to this post it should be fixed already in Insiders Build (currently Dev Channel only).

    Hi Guys!

The solution I found was this

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e5ipSrWjacQ

It was very effective and now I can use my airpods pro with good sound quality playing from Windows

that's not a fix at all. I need the microphone to work as well. You obviously haven't read this thread because I've already mentioned this.

there is nothing us as users can do about this. The Windows devs are the only ones who can fix it and I do not understand why they haven't. Bluetooth headsets work fine on Macs, Android and IOS but not on Windows...it's unbelievable to me.

There must be some sort of cheap bluetooth adapter so we can fix this issue in windows laptops, anyone have an idea of any adapter that works?

According to René Kachyňa on page 6 in this thread, his AirPods also sound terrible when he records a voice memo on his MacBook as well.

So the only difference is that on a Mac, the AirPods switch back to stereo A2DP automatically and Windows 10 doesn't.

I agree. Buying a new specific blutooth donge (DG80) is not a fix at all!

It has to work with built-in bluetooth like on any other no-windows device.

the thread user said he doesnt need the microphone to work, this is the answer to his problem, the only one who needs to read the thread is you, maybe stop being so selfish, the world doesnt revolve around spoiled people like you

the whole thread is about using headset mode which includes using the microphone. please show me which "thread user"(?) said they don't need the microphone.. and how in any way was my response "selfish"? if you don't understand a particular issue, it's best not to post because you only expose your ignorance.
