Airpods Pro: very bad quality in Headset mode on Windows 10

Dear all,

I've got my new Airpods Pro, they work well with my iPhone.

Also on Windows 10 via bluetooth, sound quality is good when using the "Airpods stereo" mode.

However, in the headset mode ("Airpods Hands-Free AG Audio") sound and especially microphone quality is extremely bad. I tried to change the default format (see screenshot, it's only 8000Hz), but I cannot change it as it's grey. Any advice to get a better microphone quality?

According to this post it should be fixed already in Insiders Build (currently Dev Channel only).

    I fixed this by changing the input device to headphone AirPods instead of headset AirPods under sound settings. then closing and reopening the application that was making the sound. I.e. Closed and reopened Chrome

    It is definitely not a bandwidth issue.

    Here is another BT connected headset which uses "Hands-Free AG Audio" profile with acceptable mic audio quality: Valco VMK20:

    Sound quality using the MIC: very good (9 out of 10)
    (offtopic: this Valco headset does a very good job as BT headset anyway :) ).

    1 channel with 16 Bit and 16000 Hz is totally ok ... but still there is no user choice to select the quality.

    The easiest way for Microsoft to solve this issue would be to allow the user to select the quality, as it is possible with other profile types.

    exactly you got the point. I've pioneer hdj-x5bt and microphone works well on macos and ios over bluetooth, but not well on win10, so noisy poor quality... 

    Isn't there any developer who works on Microsoft and faced with this issue, its so strange.

    What a shame Microsoft!

    PLZ PUBLISH AN UPDATE WIN 10 FOR BT MIC QUALITY!
