Windows 10- Locks up "waiting for cache"

Window 10 was working very well until recently after upgrading to Windows Edge chrome (or at least the is the only event that I can associated to this issue) I am getting persistent OS stalls or "not responding" that affect all applications when running Edge. Common to see "waiting for cache" in lower left browser window when the the entire system stalls and stops responding. Common to see the cursor hour glass for 30 or more seconds before system and affected applications start to respond normally.

I had the same problem, I didn't have to uninstall MWB, you can try to turn off all of the retail protections of MWB, try to transfer your files, then you can turn them back on again, see if it works.

My buddy had to actually remove MWB, so it might be different for everyone.

MWB put out a patch last week that says it:

    This version solves:

Fixed: MB4 causes severe system performance issues with Windows 10 v2004

Not sure if it works or not.

Ah, so there were issues with Malwarebytes and 2004. I may consider reinstalling this at some point potentially, and have confirmed my system now has 3 weeks of up-time no issues. Regarding the Edge issues people are having, as someone who works with Businesses and managing multiple systems, I've never encountered an issue with the Latest Edge, infact I put it on there to replace the old Edge to ensure customers stay protected. But most of them use chrome, primarily on Dell Systems. So this is defs some sort of niche issue.

To the guy that said he had the issue on a fresh install, you most likely have something hardware related. I'd run a memtest just incase.

    Cheers

Been having same exact issue. Once I close the offending app (Edge- Chromium version) it won’t reopen. Firefox won’t either. Now I’m kinda screwed since I’m doing some large file transfers.

Everything else works fine, which makes it all the weirder. Is everyone on Windows 10 2004?

I also have Malwarebytes installed. Going to look through solutions and see if I don’t start using another browser until Edge gets a new update.

For me i use this solution.

remove the last update via the command.

    https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/news/microsoft/how-to-uninstall-microsoft-edge-forced-installed-via-windows-update/

after that the old stock edge is back. :) and no problems with WAITING for cache.

(you need to stop microsoft update service he will come back next update)
