If you use Microsoft "Photo and Video" import - it will upload just what you wanted uploaded into your original Photo software...Does that make sense. It has just become a 2-step process.

I agree with everything you posted however I proposed a temporary solution to this on April 23 which I partially repeat for your convenience below.

I went back to trawling the internet for a solution and I found an app on the Microsoft Store called Photo & Video Import which performs exactly the same functions as Microsoft Photo App version 2020.19081.28230.0 ie it is possible to select "Import All" or "Import New" followed by the possibility to "Delete imported content from your device"...
