I am not sure if anyone has brought it to Microsoft's attention. As someone stated, they do not read these messages. But the free Microsoft Import Photos works fine so the best workaround is to use that! But I agree would like to hear something that they know of issue and will fix in future release!

2020-07-04T19:13:57+00:00 I'm having the same problem. It's like it forgot how to identify items since last import. It used to work perfectly.
I wish we could just get a straight answer.

2020-06-27T17:10:40+00:00 Forget about trying to repair the windows 10 photo import software. Maybe someday they will fix what was broken in an update. As Perry and a few others have said, download the free Microsoft Import Photos and Videos. I downloaded and it works to import the last items as long as you select that.
Remember to put in your destination or it will default somewhere you may not want it!

2020-06-27T16:44:44+00:00 Thanks. My problem exactly. It's apparent from the many similar problem descriptions Microsoft maintenance introduced a bug. The OEM Photo & Video app from their store is workaround but not a fix. They should advise users if they're working on one (or not). Surely they can recreate the problem.
I did try to "Repair Photos app at Settings > Apps > Apps & Features > Photos app > Advanced Options" but now app is unaware of the photos already on my PC. So i would have to upload everything again. Not gonna do that.

2020-06-17T14:06:02+00:00 Hi simpsonizer,
Have you tried the Photo and Video app from the Microsoft store.
By the way - Microsoft doesn't actually monitor the "Microsoft Community" - we are on our own in here!
Cheers
Perry
Hi Perry, I have tried the Photos and Video import, and after it duplicated all my photos - it later stopped working. It doesn’t seem to bring in portrait photos or live photos or videos well. I even paidfor the no ad version.
sadly - I have practicaly lost interest in my iPhone as far as photos, ans definitey lost interest in Microsoft and Windows.
Wes
Hi Wes
Sorry to hear the Photos and Video app didn't work for you. I just tried to duplicate your problem and I can import portrait and landscape format photos and videos too.
Best of luck next time.
Perry
