I'm puzzled that you see a version 4 & 5. Can you take a picture of that screen? I would think from the above, you should only be seeing two "Windows 10"'s on the boot screen, just as in MSConfg.

When you are sure you booted into 1909, enter the following at an Administrator Command prompt...

Play around in 1909, see whether you like it. Don't get too cuddly because we will wipe it soon. But answer those questions I asked. Basically, all looks well so far.

I was mistaken; it was Volume not Version 4 and 5. I chose 5 this time and it must have worked because this time Cortona asks questions and when it was done it was just windows everything else was wiped - what a fright LOL. Four must be 1809 and five is 1909.  While installing it strangely flashed a screen saying there was also a Volume 6 but it went to blue screen in a second and then onto install questions when it appeared later it was only 4 & 5. I tried to send this while in 1909 but it wouldn't go through so I shut down and restate, it gave me a choice of Volume 4 or 5 again so I'm in 1809 to send this. Do you still want  to

Can't really play in 1909 since it has none of my programs, pictures, or music in it. Poor me.

I just restarted without the USB and was given the option of Windows 10 or Win 1909,  clicked 1909. Everything appeared normal all my programs were back buuuut System>about says I'm still in version1809.

(1) If in 1809, then make it...

That should take care of both of them.

(2) Maybe it was saying "volume" because the process hadn't yet completed. I think I dimly recall that. Now that it's done, you should see the above two choices instead, at the boot options screen.

(3) Satisfy yourself 1809 is good (or no worse, anyhow). Then spend time in 1909. Get Mail to work in 1909.

(a) Is it activated at "START, Settings, Update & Security, Activation"?

(b) Do a regular Windows Update.

(c) Then open the Store (type into Search or ask Cortana), Click its More icon (3 dots at top, right), select "Downloads & Updates", then click the Get Updates button that appears.
