sfc /scannow WILL NOT function

I can only dream of 50 Mbps. I have Consolidated Communications and have been fighting with them for two years to give me the 758 kbps which is all they offer here. The FCC's been in touch with them but still they can't or won't get it fixed. 50 kilo-bits DSL isn't enough usually to open email especially since it has to keep reconnecting every few seconds. Their lines haven't been updates since the late 70'and so many people quite their service because it was so bad they now don't see the cost/ benefit to fixing it. Their people have suggested a few speed test sites but the connection is so bad they usually time out. Speedtest.net - their first choice rarely finishes a test when it's this bad. testmynet.net is one of the few that will show a result before have to reconnect.

2. I know these back ups like One Drive are supposed to be fail safes. It's just annoying their copies with extended names showed up mostly in the File History which I had on an external. When I decided to double check before deleting them I think they made more copies. However, they also showed up in - my documents, music and photographs folders and some how my actual folders disappeared. I opened all the files individually and made new copies, deleted theirs and stored mine on my externals. I thought that that would be the end of it until I saw some new copies popping up today and again I tried to turn it off yet it was running again. As far as I can figure it needs the internet connection to be useful but since mine sucks it's just a waste of utilities. After I restarted my computer yesterday I noticed a bunch of items missing on my desktop  They got moved into "Where are my files" but not by me, I can only assume by One Drive. And now those files say if I want to delete them don't go to the recycle bin. I like the bin, it has saved me a few time. What did.

a) Yes there is only on account

b) This is what I have.

c) No I didn't even think about One Drive before the clean install - everything I backed up is on three externals so i didn't add anything.

d) Yes, About does say it's that version.

3. I spent the last few days mindlessly opening every file and giving permission and so of course now I can't find one that gives the message and reapplied my permission. I still sometimes have to play with mp3s  but not as many as at first. Maybe it's because I keep pausing One Drive.
4. No, it wasn't just itunes songs but also my photographs and my music is mostly my old CD's transferred mp3 or mp4.I found their copies but mine were missing. It's like they replaced and renamed them.
5. I've decided to delete and replace the programs that aren't going to work. Seems such a shame to do so when they did the job perfectly fine.
6. I've always been afraid of deleting some program because something else may need it. It world be REALLY nice if each software companies had one folder that was all their toys and inside two folders "Necessary" and  "Not so Necessary".   Thanks for the suggestions. I suppose I will keep some of the .exe that took forever to download. I wasn't sure about the 1909 boot.  but if I have the image backup  I suppose I could delete that too.

(a) 50 Kbps sounds good to me. Who is your ISP? See whether they have speed tests...

It says my router to them & back is about 100 Mbps each, & from my computer to them & back is 50 Mbps each. I think that's my plan -- 50's. It seems quick enough to me.

This Microsoft Community will behave oddly at times. I saw someone else complaining in another thread. I have a few complaints too. Normally, click the browser's Refresh button to fix it -- but do a Ctrl-A & Ctrl-C first to copy out text you may be working on. Sadly, if there's a picture in the copied text, this site won't take it back after the Refresh is done -- it used to be better.

I'd like to hear more about that. A clean install should behave well with OneDrive. But I only did it once a few years ago & didn't pay much attention seeing no problem. I think I lost no files & definitively did not get triplicates. Right-click OneDrive, select Settings.

(a) At the Account tab, is there still just one account?

(b) Click the Choose Folders button -- are there duplicate folders

     or even differently named folders that you know hold the same files?

(c) Did you add folders to OneDrive prior to the clean install -- which?

(d) At the About tab, does it say its version is Version 2020 (Build 20.064.0329.0008)?

(3) Name a file/two whose permissions are suspect, & I'll compare them to mine. And say where they are & where you want to move them to (or whatever it is you want to do to them).

(4) I don't know iTunes. If it is only its files getting deleted, I'd say its an iTunes problem. Maybe there's an update.

(5) Glad to hear other favorite programs of yours are working in 1909. Yeah, settings would have to be reestablished after a clean install.

That decision is yours to make. But...

(a) Continue running Windows system image backup as before. Make a new one after major changes that were successful. I usually make a new one after a successful Quality Update (new OS Build). Rename each new image as you make it, & delete the older ones when you feel it safe. I usually keep the last three. Remember, you can recover individual files off those images without restoring the entire image.

(b) Keep Autoruns & WUShowHide for the next time they may prove useful. I have a shortcut to each of those on my Desktop.

(c) SetupDiag hopefully will no longer be necessary, can always be downloaded again, but maybe keep it till after 2004 has come in well.

(d) I don't know about Microsoft Silverlight, myself. I did install it once, not sure why it's gone now. Maybe it was my own clean install a few years ago.

I've been trying fo days to get this page to open up but internet has been off or running about 8-50 kbps for days (ever since I got 1909 installed- hope that's a coinsidence) so your site has been timing out before I can use it. I wrote this and am pasting it before reading anything you posted in case I lose connection again.

I've spent this time trying to clean up the mess that One Drive has made of my files. I have thousands of files that now have triplicate copies hiding all ove my pc. I need it turned off anyway, with such lousy internet, it's too much of a drain.

I find that I still have to give permission for every file I want to open-which is just foolish. I went into a few file's properties to fix this and have discovered under security > group or user names, a bunch of new entries where I think, there used to be only Administrator, User and System,  there are those plus - ALL APPLIATION PACKAGES, ALL RESTRICTED APPLICATION PACKAGES, CREATER OWNER, and Trusted Installer. I don't know if these are causing the problem because Uses and Administrator are allowed full control but aren't highlighted when properties are open. It's always the ALL APPLIATION PACKAGES, they're probably something MS put in, but why? I can't get on line to find out if they malware or a virus. I would think my internet is too slow to download either right now. LOL

I've had to reopen all my iTune music twice because it all disappeared each time I booted up my pc. It kept them this last time but deleted all my playlist. Again i don't know if this is a 1909 issue or another problem from outside.

My other programs seem to be adaptable to 1909 so far, settings are all messed up but unfortunately I expected that.

Now that, hopefully things are better, could you tell me is it alright to delete somethings or should they be reinstalled.

Some of these I think were added before all this mess.
