While you cannot return to S mode once you've switched out, many of S mode's protections can be enabled through the Windows Security app and settings. Please try enabling those protections whether your PC is currently in S mode or not.

There is no way to reinstall Windows with S mode once you've switched out, but there protections you can enable to apply stronger protection and security. One such protection is App and Browser Control.
As I shared with another member of the community above, go to Windows Security > App & browser control, and enable the available settings there, including Reputation-based protection which protects your PC from unrecognized apps online. You can also check to ensure you have security features like Memory integrity enabled: Windows Security > Device security > Core isolation > Core isolation details > Memory integrity (On).

Hey, I don't want to switch out of S mode but I want to download these two games onto my computer from my childhood but my computer will not let me because I am in S mode. Will anything actually happen to my computer if I switch out of S mode? I mainly use this computer for school work. I don't think switching out of S mode would hurt but I want to see if there is an alternative way first. Is there a way I can turn off the setting that controls what apps I can and cannot download?
