I received an email stating I am being charged $199.00 for windows defender can this be true or is it a scam?

100% scam.
Windows defender comes free with Windows 10.
If you hover your mouse over any links you can then check them to see where they truly link too; I bet it isn’t Microsoft.
Have you received any strange phone calls purporting to be Microsoft/Windows techs stating you have a problem with Windows?
Just in case I would check with your bank or creating card provider to ensure this charge hasn’t been applied.

That's definitely a phishing email, a scam.
Mark it as spam and delete it.

I just received an email from a Rodger Kent says he's from Microsoft protection plan. He said he's charging my account 399 and 99 cents through my account the signing up Windows Defender. Is this a scam?

They remain in business which i can report back local authorities for follow up.
i’m needing understanding of what personal files they may have stollen.
Windows doesn’t log file transfer as far as I’ve determined so far.
Any clues?
Got the email today and called the phone number. At the moment the woman answered the phone, I knew inmmediately it was a scam. She wanted me to turn on my computer for her to connect an unsubscribe me so I can receive the “refund”. I just laughed at her and hanged up!
