Why is Windows 10 Bluetooth so so so bad ?

"Now, all you have to do is to go into the Settings app and turn the Bluetooth adapter on. Ta da, you're done. Presuming that you're not the type who messes around in Device Manager, the Windows registry or other internal settings, you've done everything you need to do to get Bluetooth up and running on Windows. That was easy!"

Yeah, that happened 5 years ago.  Now I go into the settings app, and turn the bluetooth adapter on.  Ta da, I'm not done.  The device doesn't show up.  Call the device company and after 7 hours some whiz kid tells you the magic to make this particular device show up on windows.  Until it disconnects and disappears.  And then you send it back, because you bought it for use on the computer, so now it's no use to you.  So, now that it's gone somehow it's showing up again.  Try to remove the device.  Well, I did 90 minutes ago.  Still thinking about it.

So, I walked into a Microsoft store the other day and started looking at laptops. The salesperson came up and asked, well what do you think? I said, it looks great! It's silver like I wanted and seems to be fast. The salesperson said, yes, the SDD drive is super-fast! I said, great does it have wifi? The salesperson said, no it doesn't have wifi. I said, what? this is 2021! how can it NOT have wifi? The salesperson said, but it's silver and looks great, doesn't it? I said, but it's not a laptop without wifi!

We would never imagine walking in a store and having that conversation. Because it's not a laptop without wifi in 2021. Microsoft would never imagine that conversation as acceptable. HELLO!! MICROSOFT... IS ANYONE THERE? IT'S NOT A LAPTOP WITHOUT BLUETOOTH!! WHY IS THIS REACURRING PROBLEM ACCEPTABLE?

P.S. - My Bluetooth keyboard stopped working while typing this!!! So did my Bluetooth mouse and my Bluetooth earbuds. Microsoft, are you getting the picture here?

Completely agree. One of the biggest challenges in "trouble shooting" is the statement to: "disable and enable bluetooth."

Okay, first, should not have to do that so routinely. Secondly, 99% of the time, once you "turn off" the option to "turn on" completely disappears. Then, one is stuck with such frustration to get it back. Often reboots do not help, one may try services.msc or devmgmt.msc - be sure to "show hidden" since it is now off. Even still, no luck there. Using headphones seems to be the primary aspect, yes? My keyboard & mouse are working, clearly - even now that it says i have no blue tooth period.

Uninstalling & reinstalling is a pain...

This is so simple MicroSlop and so many concerns\complaints on Windows 10 for this aspect.

What is the hold up what one would hope is a big challenge for your consumers. Why bother with this OS if it cannot do even simple things like not have "on/off" disappear - come on. Why does it disappear? Why is that one of your primary resolutions when clearly the option just vanishes to turn it back on. Do you even use or trouble shoot the actual issue or are you just spouting redderik.

Seems likely that folks at Micro Soft are not even using their own platform as most the time you don't help the user and your options are not even what you say they are. Why can you not simply fix three really easy things we all liked about Windows.

1> Bluetooth issues.

2> Tertiary monitors go blank (nearly always monitor 2 even if you have three of them - tip: Shift+Ctrl+Windows+B resets the drivers and restores your monitors without mucking around too much.

3> Screen saver is only on Monitor 1. Really gang? I still use my XP box as it continues to be the most stable Windows platform in my opinion. And guess what, zero bluetooth issues, zero monitor adapter issues, and my screen saver hits all monitors.

I found this thread because i purchased a couple of new wireless xbox controllers (QAU-00001) to play games and replace my steam controller since it emulates an xbox controller anyway. I had this amazing vision of being able to use my new controllers on my PC via Bluetooth to play games with daughter and then move them to the Apple TV to play games there (note this device only uses bluetooth to connect to controllers). When I first opened the boxes and tried to connect the xbox controllers to my PC they where not functional. After spending time on the internet, I found that controllers where shipped with firmware that didnt work (that is entire another line of poor product and customer management) and had to update them. Had to buy USB-C cables to do, but did it. After updating, they connected to my PC by bluetooth, yay. Unfortunately the Microsoft controllers connection was so terrible that they could not be used to play video games over bluetooth. I even updated and then reinstalled my drivers with the same failure at both steps. I built my computer so it was easy to borrow another Intel Dual Band Wireless-AC 3168 card to check the bluetooth. Same issues. Thankfully, I had purchased USB-C cables to update the firmware and could now use them by wire to flawlessly play video games using my wireless controllers connected by wires (thumbs down). Here is what bothers me deeply. My apple TV connected to the xbox controllers out of the box, but not well. After updating the firmware on the controllers it is full automagical connection to my Apple TV. We can play games all day without a drop. They also reconnect to the apple TV with a push of the xbox (microsoft) button.

Reconnecting the controllers to the PC via bluetooth was a total disaster that I beg to say lacks a reproducible experience. The xbox button does nothing. I dont even understand how it is not reproducible process. I basically had re-pair them everytime (the same controller that was not paired to my apple tv). Often it took several attempts.

I wanted to attempt gaming on PC using wireless xbox controllers via bluetooth. I was naive enough to believe that a Microsoft produce would work without another freaking dongle and that the windows 10 PC and xbox controller would be happily married over bluetooh. Caveat emptor.

Same here, I can't use the **** bluetooth-board I bought, I manage to fix it after 2 days of trying and then windows update **** it up again.
