Do you know anything about Chrome Book?  I see it advertised, but there is no information about what you can do with it.  I want to be sure what I switch to will handle my Genealogy Program Data Base.  And I play games on Facebook.  Otherwise, I only have certain Portals for doctors and such I use and Word for letters.  I do know that Chrome Book does not come with Windows 10.  Other then that I do not know what it has or what you can do with it..

So at my age of 80, I get stressed over all this stuff with Microsoft.  My experience has been exceptionally Favorable towards Microsoft in the past.  This is the first time that I have seen such a large amount of people having such a difficult time, without Microsoft actually putting something out there, that they are aware of this and are working on it.  Generally you can just Bing the problem and find answers, but not this time.  I learned with the new versions of Internet Explorer, not to download or Install them for several months and with W-7 you could check a box to stop any Automatic Download of just that Internet Explorer, so I would not even get it until I unchecked the box, but would get all other Updates as usual.

My Updates come every month about the 10 or 11th, occasionally on the 12th or 13th, so I make a point of checking this site before I Install them.  That is why I was able to Pause this Update before it even downloaded.

I am still hoping that I can still keep my Faith with Microsoft.  I have had them for way too many years to give up on them now.

IF they had done it they would have discovered what their devices had in common what third party software or processor or manufacturer(s) were encountering conflicts.

As I already posted my old refurbished HP Pavilion Desktop from Micro Center had no problems whatsoever.

So the updates work. I can testify to that as a user.

But then...I don't use third party security programs or additional browsers or a ton of third party programs and hardware,  I just use what came with my used PC when I bought it three years ago.

And, yes,  I have all the latest updates 

Hi Cassandra, you make a good point but I don't think that is so much the issue. I have a desktop Acer and HP Laptop. Both are Intel Pentium, both were originally Windows 7. Both have the same 3rd party software ie Norton 360 and HP printer software, nothing more technical than this. When I update I always do my HP laptop first as this is my day to day means of going online outside my Samsung Tablet. If it updates okay, i do my desktop. If it doesn't I don't update my desktop. I decided since I had the updates paused on the laptop to update my desktop. This hadn't been updated since January  and was at System 1903 whilst laptop was already 1909. Interestingly my desktop updated through to 1909 and then applied the March update without any issue. My laptop will still not update, so this could be an issue with hardware on your PC/Laptop rather than software. Only Microsoft can sort this shambolic release as they had to do about 1 year back where similar issues occurred.

You think Google and Apple don't?

You make some excellent points too but to be honest with you: MY suspect in your case would be Norton.

Have you consulted them about possible conflicts with 1909?
