Since installing the 1909 feature update, Run As Administrator (from right click, or from menu as in the common case of Command Prompt) fails to do anything. No change in process count in Task Manager. Very inconvenient, I have needed to create separate Admin-enabled shortcuts for the tasks I regularly need to perform (cmd, VAMT, etc). IMO as a software engineer (retired) pretty obviously a bug or some sort of mis-feature. I have done all the usual checks of my system - SFC, virus checker, etc. UAC works fine, but is just not invoked at all by clicking on Run As Administrator. Everything else works correctly, and I know it was the 1909 update that did this because it worked just before installing, and did not work just after the install.

Hello, HitBit, I fully echo your sentiments.  I am reading that this latest update is an important one (from March 13th, 2020), but that I need to install a previous, "Service Stack Update".  Last month (February, 2020), Microsoft's updates decided to wipe out all my non-installed desktop icons,  and I had to go looking for them.  Unlike the horrid, Octobre 2020 update (which wiped out my files-which I was able to recover, and destroyed my touch screen program), I did not lose all my files.  However, I had to really search for them, because Microsoft thought it would be cute and funny to move them elsewhere.  They also thought it a great idea (along with these updates), to delete all the favourites and folders I had on Google Chrome.  It has gotten to the point where I have had to copy and paste, and e-mail to myself, ALL my computer's files, folders, and anything else important, because Microsoft has shown they do not give a damned.  I also have had to pause updates, because that is what it has come down to.  I am not "allowed" on my own computer, to stop them until I say so.  Like you, I am tired of them (Microsoft) destroying my computer in the name of "updates and "Improvements".  I will not be purchasing another computer like this in the future, either.  I am only one person, but to hell with buying from a company that craps all over its customers.

The most recent update rendered my copy of Windows completely unusable- it refused to boot, and Startup Repair did nothing. A reset fixed the issue, but now a lot of my data is gone. Thanks a lot, Microsoft, for making a product that bricks itself with every update.
