Hi Ruth, I am in the same situation and am starting to think Windows is a virus itself. I had updates paused for 4 weeks. when this was due to expire I simply switched updates on again then off before it could install anything. this allowed me to pause for another 4 weeks. I do not want any updates until Microsoft admit there is a huge problem which they have absolutely no idea how to solve. It is deplorable that they are treating so many users of their product with such contempt. Hitbit

Hi Will, yes it is appalling. I have my PC paused until April 28th. Mine is still running good, and that is because I didn't even attempt to install those Updates, or to try all the suggestions here. When my Pause expires I fear I will get Automatic Updates and that scares me to death. I would be lost without my PC. I am a Senior age 80, and I get no Post Office Mail, I get everything on my PC. Totally Paperless and pay all my bills on line, order my medications, contact my doctors. Everything on line. My Hobby is Genealogy and I work that everyday. I can imagine everyone who uses their PC for work and are not large Corporations or large Businesses. Those large Companies have Companies to keep their Computers in shape. Us we are the experiment. Sorry you are having to deal with this the hard way. Me I am just waiting. Good Luck Hi Ruth, I'm sure you will be able to extend the pause date further.

I am in the same situation and am starting to think Windows is a virus itself.
