Cumulative Updates - March 10th 2020

  If I hadn't mentioned this before (and I'm pretty sure I did) I use DEFENDER.

  I am STILL plagued by Cumulative Updates not installing.  Just for grins I un-paused my updates and it tried for a 7th time to install KB4551762,  fail, error 0x800f081f

  I immediately re-paused them.

  I might not be thinking clearly, but it seems like all this nonsense started right about the same time THE MICROSOFT STORE started popping up at startup daily...

  The ONLY third party software I run is Brave Browser, because it is not a memory glut like most other browsers, and come with built in Ad Blocking.

  Before you say that IT might be the issue, my browser does not load until I load it, and I have tried several time to do updates without opening the browser.

  I visited the site PBurns mentioned only to see his question to the TECHNICIANS being ignored just like our rants here.

  I have been using computers since 1984, had the 2nd machine owned by the company I worked for for 32 1/2 yrs.

  I have never been as frustrated with an issue such as these CUMULATIVE UPDATES.

  I hope I am wrong, but something seems amiss with MicroSoft...

As I already mentioned I have never had an issue with their updates but, then, I don't use third party antivirus programs that interfere with them. I use Windows Security which doesn't. The reason should be obvious....Norton, McAfee and the others are not designed for Windows. They are designed for Linux (which is, itself, a Unix-like Operating System.

The most popular version of this being (last time I looked) Ubuntu a FOSS (Free and Open Source Software System) or O/S that will operate your computer just as well as Windows 10 from Microsoft or macOS Catalina from Apple or the Android OS from Google (mostly used on phones and tablets) or any of 'em.

 The high point being you could download and install Ubuntu today and never have to give Microsoft or Apple or Google another nickle.

The Kubuntu Flavor looks nice you can check it out on YouTube if you want.

ANYWAY Windows Security is designed for Windows 10 and they do not interfere with each other,

When one does it tends to be the antivirus which is at fault and they need to issue a patch (they eventually do and have in this 1909 debacle).

No need to get angry at Microsoft. If you want more freedom in using Third Party antivirus or what have you I suggest using Linux or one of its variants.

I'm not trying to impress anyone only detailing the protection I prefer for all my products in one rather than relying on Microsoft who can't even get their updates to install properly. They denied responsibilities about a year or so back when they released a similar botched update that they then managed to fix a month later. Everyone to their own preferences.

Sorry, but these problems occurred as a result of the updates and the upgrade having errors in it.

What you need to do is fix the issues that you created Microsoft, not tell us that we need to work around your errors.

You had the opportunity to do this with your latest Edge upgrade, but totally failed to do it.

Please correct the issues and quit trying to get us to do daily fixes to the issue.

Free VPN is supposed to impress me? And you pay Norton to access this instead of just installing it free from the Microsoft Store?

and of course, Windows Security is free on all your devices. The thing is, you see, to set the level of security you need.

Need I add that I have not been hacked since Windows 10 came out with their new Security set up?

In fact, I don't think I have been hacked since Vista. Had a few of those pop ups that pretend to be ransomware but they are easily gotten rid of with a good pop up blocker as mentioned in my previous post,
