Realtek Audio device Code 10 cannot start and unable to update

My headphone and mic jacks on my pc do not work and I have been trying for hours to get my on board sound working. I got the realtek drivers from my board manufacturer and every time I install them I get (Code 10 : Device cannot start.) I have tried updating and I have the newest driver so I am entirely stuck here.

I have tried many different realtek drivers and none work, not even the one supplied by the manufacturer so I would really appreciate if anyone could walk me through how to actually get my sound working.

I have a Z390 Phantom Gaming 4 board and Intel i5 9600K chip.

    That appears to be for legacy, non-plug & play devices. I doubt what you've got would be one of those. Others tried that, it isn't a solution. Has it put something into Device Manager that still is there after a reboot? I would seek to be rid of it.

    (2) OK, I'm sure you tried the right Realtek audio driver. And trying a speakerless monitor probably proves that wasn't causing it, but I think that should be tried again -- if/when the Realtek device finally shows up properly installed under Realtek High Definition Audio (yet still won't produce sound).

    I think, now, it won't install because the High Definition Audio Controller under System Devices is not functioning. That's the message I get from the thread JosephT71 found. And here is another...

    JeromeBeckett solved the problem himself. It worked for others, but not for all. How's your luck? I've got just one High Definition Audio Controller. I suppose you've got the extra owing to the built-in external sound port. Probably it is the one w/o a Resources tab that is the problem, it needs to have one. Mine has 3 drivers, but none is RealTek, they all are Microsoft. Good luck.

    It only wants an INF file. I've tried several I found in my realtek download. None worked, I simply get "you already have the best driver installed" which I clearly do not because I have no sound lol.

    I did that to see which one was connected to the hdmi and which one wasn't so that I might know where to try installing the realtek drivers. However, using the have disk option I'm not sure which file I'm looking for...

    I didn't tell you to disable them, I asked you whether you can install the realtek drivers on them via device manager (have disk option).
