Disable Touch Pad on HP Laptop running Windows 10.

I can no longer disable Touchpad (Synaptics SMBus Touchpad) on HP laptop with windows 10. Typical Disabling Driver options through Device control panel are not available. Disable driver options are grayed out. Are there other ways to disable the touch pad? Key strokes shortcuts, etc.?

Latest updates installed. Tried to uninstall touchpad but it just reinstalles automatically upon restart.

    I'm back!

    I uninstalled the driver update app and rolled back the touchpad driver to a previous version. Once I re-start, the current version gets reinstalled again. So I think I am back to square 1.

    I haven't been successful in installing the precision touchpad driver after that.

    Of course it won't work.

    You are trying to follow a 2017 web page instruction for a windows 10 circa 2017 to install a 2016 lenovo synaptics on a HP laptop for a windows 10 circa 2020. Windows 10 has changed A LOT in the last 3 years.

    With the new drivers, all GUI controls are now reside in the Microsoft Store downloaded Synpatics TouchPad app.

    If you are like ehvh in the other thread and the Microsoft Store throws an error when trying to install the Synpatics TouchPad, then you need to contact HP. Maybe resetting the Microsoft Store.

    Is there any error message when you try to install the precision touchpad driver?

    You unzip the drivers, then find the touchpad within device manager & right click on it, choose update drivers & then choose manually update driver, find the folder where you unzipped the drivers & choose this, it should update (there may be a message asking if you’re sure/a warning about installing the driver but continue anyway.

    I believe I got an error msg stating Driver not found. And I'm not sure I actually tried to unzip it properly.
