2020-02 Updates KB4524244 Locks Up My Computer and Fails Install

I received the Patch Tuesday releases today.  KB4532693, KB4537759 and KB4538674 dropped in the first wave and all installed successfully.  On a subsequent "Check for Updates"  KB4524244 downloaded and installed but on the reboot, it rebooted the first time but froze hard on the second re-boot with Step 2 information and a frozen spinner on my screen, no keyboard or any access.  After about 15 mins I finally forced the system down.  On the reboot, my Secure Boot flagged me that the keys were corrupted.  I was able to get those repaired and reboot into the system.  I rebooted a couple more times but no updates attempted to install.  On a third "Check for updates, the same (KB4524244) update attempted to download but freezes the system at 94% on the download.  Again freezes hard requiring a hard re-set.  I tried flushing the Software Distribution cache but get the same results.

FYI:  I am running Windows defender with VBS (Credential Guard and Hypervisor enforced Code Integrity on an HP EliteDesk 705 G4 MT with a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G with Radeon Vega Graphics.  I also have a similar set up running on an HP laptop (Intel i5), but the update installed fine on it.

We took the computer in. They ran diagnostics and the result was a failed Bios hard drive. They said all the reboots etc connected with Windows 10 update probably weakened an already weak hard drive. We purchased a nice battery back up to hopefully save it from power surges and outages. Bought a new hard drive. After a little research, we went with Samsung. Apple uses a lot of their products. So, must be good. I hope. We pick up computer tomorrow and soon I start their free classes on computers. Good luck with things.

Good luck with that.  My RAID drives are fine--nothing wrong with them, just got too full.

But a couple of people have tersely replied "Windows Media Player"  whatever that means.

I wish I could help but I don't think I can.  I finally called MS Support and the person got into my machine and did a "manual download" of the updates.  Then she said the magic words: "Don't worry!"  My blood ran cold when she said that, because that's when I started to worry.

When it was all done, my regular background showed up for less than a second...and the machine was locked again.   I noticed the mouse worked on my RH screen but not the left--but just a moving arrow, nothing happened.  So I pulled the HDMI off on the LH monitor and got the log on screen, but not the other way around.  Finally I moved the DVI for the LH screen from the Nvidia card it was on to the one the other card (both have 2 ports).  Then I had to mess with the display settings and reboot.  It was fine.  It also took the next round of updates with no problem.
