2020-02 Updates KB4524244 Locks Up My Computer and Fails Install

I received the Patch Tuesday releases today.  KB4532693, KB4537759 and KB4538674 dropped in the first wave and all installed successfully.  On a subsequent "Check for Updates"  KB4524244 downloaded and installed but on the reboot, it rebooted the first time but froze hard on the second re-boot with Step 2 information and a frozen spinner on my screen, no keyboard or any access.  After about 15 mins I finally forced the system down.  On the reboot, my Secure Boot flagged me that the keys were corrupted.  I was able to get those repaired and reboot into the system.  I rebooted a couple more times but no updates attempted to install.  On a third "Check for updates, the same (KB4524244) update attempted to download but freezes the system at 94% on the download.  Again freezes hard requiring a hard re-set.  I tried flushing the Software Distribution cache but get the same results.

FYI:  I am running Windows defender with VBS (Credential Guard and Hypervisor enforced Code Integrity on an HP EliteDesk 705 G4 MT with a AMD Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G with Radeon Vega Graphics.  I also have a similar set up running on an HP laptop (Intel i5), but the update installed fine on it.

    I divine you have a way to click things without the mouse or that the mouse is only partially not working. So the first thing to do is to uninstall****KB4524244. It causes "issues", Microsoft says, though we have to guess what they are. Also, they say whatever good it was meant to do will be done by a future update. So...

    (1) Type "Control Panel" into the Search bar or into a "right-click START, Run" box.

    (2) With the Control Panel set at "Category" (top, right)...

    (a) Click "Uninstall a Program" at the bottom.

    (b) Click "View Installed Updates" at top, left.

    Four came in for me one day, including KB4524244. Only the bottom one (KB4538674) will not uninstall. It could be any of the top three causing your problem. You may select them & look higher up for an Uninstall button. Or right-click one, & select "uninstall". (My KB4524244 is uninstalled, this is an old picture.)

    Definitely uninstall KB4524244. It won't ask for a reboot afterward, but do it anyway. It won't try to come in again, someday MSFT will replace it with a better one.

    If that isn't a fix - & presuming your issue began right after these updates came in - try uninstalling the other two, if they came in on that same day. Do one at a time, so that you may know which was the bad guy. But these two will seek to come in again. You may prevent it with this...

    A little off this specific topic but when it comes to flakey USB & updates, I usually check & ensure I am running the latest BIOS for the motherboard. I don't argue the updates from MS causing you grief but I tend to find those type of issues have "two culprits".

    All usb ports stopped working with Jan 2020 updates.  All ports worked again after Feb 11 updates.

    Now all ports stopped working again.  Microsoft support person tried to help today Feb 19.  No luck.

    I presume I will have to wait for another update.
