It is affecting the BIOS, but seems to be specific to HP computers.

It makes me wonder why would anyone choose Microsoft Azure Cloud over Amazon's AWS Cloud .

Sure, all software companies have problems with their software, but Amazon puts top priority on the Customer/End User .

Microsoft has had this inexcusably bad practice for 20 or so years of setting "Release Dates",and ready or not, Microsoft is going to release it no matter how many of its Customers/Users it negatively affects .

We saw it in IE (Internet Explorer) that did not follow the W3C Standards (even though they claimed they would) & it got so bad, it would not work with most websites, & its market share plummeted to virtually nothing .

Then there was that disaster called "Vista" . All Windows OSs afterward still use the Vista core, so they are just as unstable.

Windows 10 is by far the best version of these, but the Windows 10 Updates are making Vista look good.

I just had this update on my PC and now it will not boot. Fails the BIOS POST test with a series of beeps, completely blank screen.

I bought it only 5 days ago, have tried re-seating the RAM and GPU.

Hard to decipher the beeps as the screen is blank and I dont know what MB make it is. (8 regular slow beeps. Then a repeat of two slow low tone beeps, two fast high tone beeps - if that means anything to anyone!)

I did have some important work to do, but I guess not, thanks microsoft :(

I presume there is no way to fix this and the PC is now dead, as it wont ever boot up again now, to receive a Windows update fix ... to fix this "update fix"?

Firstly you say you bought it 5 days ago so would have been under warranty so why take it apart.

If it was second hand then you was sold a duffer. 

Secondly the update does not affect your bios,the OS (Windows) does not load until after Bios boot.

Suggest you learn a bit more about computers as this is an hardware fault nothing to do with this update.

Thanks for pointing this out. I did not know KB4532693 is causing similar problems.

A lot of posts recommend first "to restart their PCs at least 3 to 4 times" to fix the problem.

It seems this works some times.

KB4532693 is a Cumulative Update & KB4524244 is a Security Update.

Both were installed on my laptop, but I only see KB4524244 is available to uninstall.

Supposedly, "Microsoft has pulled the security update KB4524244".

It is still on my laptop, so I think they mean it is not being offered anymore.

According to articles posted, both KB4532693 & KB4524244 both are causing a lot of problems.

Doing a Google search on "KB4532693 KB4524244" returns a lot of sites. I'm sure there are more info on these 2 Updates.

Finally, the update is installed.  Windows 7 never took this long to install an update.  Now I will see if the sleeping/hibernating and unable to wake without a restart problem has gone or is still waiting to cause me problems.

Of course, in addition to all of this the scanner on my HP printer doesn't work unless I use the built in scan app and you never know if the printer is going to work without several attempts or not.  Maybe, just maybe this update took care of all that.

If anyone has any further information I would surely appreciate a reply.
