Why do people have to be so snarky?

It's not that you're wrong: It's that you could be kinder with a probably new-comer to PCs.  Even long-time experts can accidentally blow the hardware.  I suspect that the attempt to reseat the CPU lead to a discharge that fried either the CPU or the motherboard.  Failing the BIOS POST test does have nothing to do with Windows--much more fundamental to the hardware.  Time to return the PC to the seller.

But trying to figure out just WHAT a Windows Update affected can be frustrating, especially when the Windows icon appears, then you get the Black Screen.  Then the only way to fix it is by powering the PC up and down repeatedly until the blue Recovery screen allows you to start backing stuff out.

But after buying and building and fixing my family's and my PCs and laptops, starting with a PC's Limited in 1985 running DOS 2.x (That was what Dell was before it became Dell) I am frankly tired of, but resigned to the snark.  I don't always know the latest and greatest and some things are easier these days, sometimes much is hidden.  And MS has, in all of their products, never been particularly logical in navigating the menu pathways to what you need.

According to Forbes there are serious issues with this update, though Microsoft seems not to acknowledge them (despite users reporting computers not booting up at all!)

I am not installing it and I would expect Microsoft to be more transparent and proactive when such problems are reported.

All as I can say is we rolled the update out to 230 Desktops/laptops all various ages and configurations and no issues have been reported, but I do believe there as been issues with HP PC's/Laptops of which we do not have any.

It makes me wonder why would anyone choose Microsoft Azure Cloud over Amazon's AWS Cloud .

Sure, all software companies have problems with their software, but Amazon puts top priority on the Customer/End User .

Microsoft has had this inexcusably bad practice for 20 or so years of setting "Release Dates",and ready or not, Microsoft is going to release it no matter how many of its Customers/Users it negatively affects .

We saw it in IE (Internet Explorer) that did not follow the W3C Standards (even though they claimed they would) & it got so bad, it would not work with most websites, & its market share plummeted to virtually nothing .

    The Importance of W3C Standards

    https://www.bopdesign.com/bop-blog/2013/06/the-importance-of-w3c-standards

It's dated " June 26, 2013 " but all of what's listed in this blog is valid today .

    Read this First .

If you are into a TON of reading, see https://www.w3.org.

Then there was that disaster called "Vista" . All Windows OSs afterward still use the Vista core, so they are just as unstable.

Windows 10 is by far the best version of these, but the Windows 10 Updates are making Vista look good.

    chreid145,

Thanks for pointing this out. I did not know KB4532693 is causing similar problems.

A lot of posts recommend first "to restart their PCs at least 3 to 4 times" to fix the problem.

It seems this works some times.

    KB4532693 is a Cumulative Update & KB4524244 is a Security Update.

Both were installed on my laptop, but I only see KB4524244 is available to uninstall.

Supposedly, "Microsoft has pulled the security update KB4524244".

It is still on my laptop, so I think they mean it is not being offered anymore.

    Windows 10 KB4532693 & KB4524244 causing new issues

    https://www.windowslatest.com/2020/02/13/windows-10-kb4532693-and-kb4524244-issues

According to articles posted, both KB4532693 & KB4524244 both are causing a lot of problems.

KB4524244 pulled, More KB4532693 issues including random reboots, login issue, 0x8007025d, installation failures reported

    https://thewincentral.com/kb4524244-pulled-more-kb4532693-issues-including-random-reboots-login-issue-0x8007025d-installation-failures-reported

Windows 10 updates KB4532693 & KB4524244 causing many issues, report users

    https://thewincentral.com/windows-10-updates-kb4532693-kb4524244-causing-many-issues-report-users

"This update was not supposed to come to Windows 10 version 1909 but seemsMicrosoft screwed up again. Now this update KB4524244 along with KB4532693 is causing many issues as reported by users on Redditand official Microsoft forum."

Check out these 3 links for more info.

Doing a Google search on "KB4532693 KB4524244" returns a lot of sites. I'm sure there are more info on these 2 Updates.
