Disable Get Even More Out of Windows

Hello, I'm having a problem with this screen appearing on my computers. I want it, and anything related to halting startup disabled.

What I've tried so far is setting the registry key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UserProfileEngagement\ScoobeSystemSettingEnabled to 0, as that was the advice I got online. Didn't work.

I've also tried unchecking the "Show me the Windows welcome experience after updates and occassionally when I sign in to highlight what's new and suggested" option in Settings->System->Notifications as that was supposed to help too. Didn't work.

What do I need to do to get Microsoft to stop bothering me? Preferably something with a CLI so I can automate it.

    I just finished upgrading 22 (2 Home, 20 Pro) machines from 1909 to 2004.  About 10 of the 1909 machines did not have the "Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of Windows" setting. The others did.

    Now all 22 have the option. I have uncheck it on all machines.

    I will wait and see what happens with the July patches.

    Thanks to all who took time to post their experiences.

    Rick

    thanks jonas!

    this happens randomly for me, so unsure if i can really test this. However i have put in the setting now to apply to every user.

    it was still happening, just had an occurrence over the weekend. hopefully this key finally resolves it.

    im on 1903 currently, so hopefully the key is backwards compatible and effective. I am not moving to 20xx for at least a year.

    Now that i know what key it is, i could search that key and come up with some interesting results. This here article, provides more context on how to check it:

    https://www.windowslatest.com/2020/06/07/windows-10-full-screen-setup-prompts-are-back/

    just go to settings -> notifications and actions and check if "Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most out of Windows" is checked or not. I can only find this setting in version 2004 which it appears taht some of my machines have auto upgraded to.. DAMNIT

    (edit i should say that the machines with this problem are still on 1903, but the SETTING in the settings application only appears on 2004)

    Seems like there is finally a solution with the recent release of version 2004.

    With this version, the option "Suggest ways I can finish setting up my device to get the most of of Windows" appears in the control panel, and can be disabled.

    If you're using script, this command is confirmed to work:

    REG ADD "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UserProfileEngagement" /v "ScoobeSystemSettingEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

    This of course only works for the current logged in user, if you need to disable for other users, you could use a simple batch script like this:(replace "User" with target username)

    for /f "delims= " %%a in ('"wmic useraccount where name='User' get sid"') do (

    if not "%%a"=="SID" (

    set myvar=%%a

    goto :loop_end

    )

    )

    :loop_end

    REG ADD "HKEY_USERS%MYVAR%\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\UserProfileEngagement" /v "ScoobeSystemSettingEnabled" /t REG_DWORD /d 0 /f

    Thanks for posting. Very clever workaround. I will use it here. At least my data acquisition PCs won't miss data from our in situ environment sampling equipment.

    None of the many suggested registry keys worked for me. I was able to observe that when the hated "Get even more out of Windows" screen was displayed, there was a UserOOBEBroker.exe process running. Killing that process doesn't make the screen go away, but doing a reboot does of course. I created a scheduled task to run every five minutes and reboot the machine if UserOOBEBroker.exe is running. The task runs a cmd file that contains a line like this:

    tasklist /fi "imagename eq UserOOBEBroker.exe" | findstr exe > nul && shutdown /r /f /t 0

    My complete cmd file writes a line to a log file, so I'm able to see that a reboot has been triggered. I've had the scheduled task running on 40 remotely-manged machines for a few days, and it's successfully freed up several machines that had the nag screen displayed.

    I wish that MS could give me back all the hours that I spent struggling with this problem.
