How do I unistall the Microsoft Edge "Update"

uninstalling edge can cause you to loose all network connectivity.  I made the same mistake sometime ago and the advice given to uninstall just crashed my system.  after rebooting the old edge was restored but all network connectivity was gone.  The system was not able to connect to the internet or any network - there just wasn't any network options.  The only way to fix the problem was to Ghost my system back.  After restarting, i still get the option to update edge, but I will never click on it again.  Microsoft should not impost drastic changes to software and should make any new features/changes available under the options settings, that way if you don't like something (which most people don't) you can just uncheck the option..  MS didn't do this with the latest update to edge and created a nightmare for many users.  The advice given here is pretty much next to useless.

My suggestion to everyone is to maintain a compete image backup so that when these situations occur (which they will with Microsoft) you can easily just restore the image.  The checkpoint/restore feature of windows is practically useless in situations like this and you need a real backup method.  Ultrabac is one such reliable backup/restore mythology.

Same here. It is grayed-out not to select "uninstall" button. Definitely it is a problem. I want to be back to use the previous legacy Microsoft edge.

I got to read up until the end of August.  Wow.  I'm glad I'm not alone.

For me, I don't care if Edge stays in its corner and behaves.  My laptop is older and I hope to replace it soon, but the practice I find underhanded and sneaky by Microsoft is the spontaneous starting of the various programs--Edge included--w/o me hitting any button.  I run World of Warcraft and when these programs sneak into the behind the GUI (use Task Manager and then click More Details), it's frustrating.  I'll open TM, find "Microsoft Content"/Click to Run MS Office" and "Office".  I've even had "Microsoft Pay" which I have no clue how that go on there and never opened it if it's there.  I don't even know where the button is to start that app.  Then I'll look back when I freeze in WoW again, and find OMG 12 instances of Edge Updater running.  I am not exaggerating.  It was 12 once.  I click End Task and close all these stupid MS programs forced on me w/o my starting them, and then an hour later, they've all spontaneously started again!  I like Office.  I really do.  I just want to control when I want it on and when I want it off. I want to be in control when Edge updates (it can do it along with Windows as a whole package thank you and not sneakily behind my back solo-ly).  I can't wait to get a higher speed laptop so I can ignore all these and not have to flip from in-game GUI to Task Manager and back while I'm in a loading screen, or a flight path, or somewhere safe and not in a high-spawn area that is bogging everything down because of these damned programs.

Please Microsoft. All I want is to be in control of my own computer, please?
