Windows 10 crashes after installing latest AMD graphics drivers

Hi,

I did a fresh install of windows 10 on my laptop. When I try to install the AMD graphics drivers, windows freezes. After force shutdown and restart, windows freezes on the login screen.

Then, if I boot into safe mode and disable the AMD drivers, then it runs fine. But, enabling the drivers again causes the same issue.

The driver for the integrated graphics works fine.

I ran the dism commands for ScanHealth and RestoreHealth. There was no error.

I ran sfc /scannow. There was no error

Laptop: Lenovo Z51-70

Processor: Intel i5 5200U

Integrated GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5500

GPU: AMD R9 M375

    Thank you for writing to Microsoft Community Forums.

    I understand that you are facing issues with freezing issues after installing the latest AMD graphics drivers.

    Ideally, when booting the PC in Safe Mode only basic Windows drivers are loaded and that is the reason the PC will is not crashing. If there is a conflict in drivers with Windows, then you will see a freezing issue on the PC.

    One of the things that you can try is installing the older version of AMD graphics drivers and see if you are able to boot the PC normally. The drivers available on AMD website

    Note: Do check for the version installed on your PC before proceeding with the installation of graphics drivers

    Let us know how it goes.

    Hi Prakhar,

    Yes, I tried to see if the older version of the drivers work. I installed version 19.12.3, The system still froze when the driver completed install. And then crashed at the welcome screen after force reboot.

    The latest AMD driver version is 20.2.1

    Hi, u have the same issue where when i try and downlod AMD Software it crashes windows. 

    After, when i go into safe mode it is downloaded. But i have to install the driver in order to go back into windows. 

    Were you able to fix this, as i know you had this issue a couple of months ago. 

    Would be much appricated if you could help out.

    Hi,

    Facing the same issue. Even tried with a fresh install of windows. As soon as I update the driver from the device manager, the laptop freezes and I have to force shutdown. Idk if its related, but started to face the problem after the recent installation of epic games launcher and Gta V.

    Will be very thankful if someone could suggest anything.
