Windows 10 crashes after installing latest AMD graphics drivers

Darn! So close. I was able to clean the drivers and install in Safe Mode afterwards with no error messages, but when I restarted in normal mode - boom! Black screen loop. Any other suggestions?

I have a solution. I solved it and wanted to come back to this forum post because it was so sad that there were 3 pages with no answers.

So when I was trying to update my AMD GPU drivers, the installation would get to around 50%, my monitor would turn off for a moment, then it would turn back on with a BSOD. This happened every time, no matter which version of the drivers I was trying to install. I didn't even know what was going on.

Here are the two lessons I learned. One will help you diagnose the problem, the other will hopefully help you solve it. These are actually pretty basic things to do, but it wasn't super apparent to me when I was doing it.

1. Install the driver that's causing you to crash, in SAFE MODE. When I did this, instead of hitting BSOD, the installer let me actually see the error instead of crashing my PC. I forget the exact error number I had, but it suggested reasons for why that error was occurring. One was Windows version, two was I just had a wonky install of a previous driver that wasn't allowing me to install the new ones correctly, even despite "Clean install" selected. And it recommended #2:
2. AMD Cleanup Utility. This is AMD software to wipe your AMD GPU drivers clean so you can do a clean install. I know you can select the option to do a clean install on new driver installs, but that didn't work for me. I had to wipe the drivers with this tool so I was sure I was clean, and what do you know, the new driver I was trying to install, installed perfectly..

So that's it. Really the AMD Cleanup Utility should be more clearly advertised as the go-to solution for driver issues, but I wasn't really made aware of it - despite a lot of internet and forum research - until I saw the error message displayed to me in safe mode.

I did a fresh install of windows 10 on my laptop. When I try to install the AMD graphics drivers, windows freezes. After force shutdown and restart, windows freezes on the login screen.

Then, if I boot into safe mode and disable the AMD drivers, then it runs fine. But, enabling the drivers again causes the same issue.

The driver for the integrated graphics works fine.

I ran the dism commands for ScanHealth and RestoreHealth. There was no error.

I ran sfc /scannow. There was no error

Laptop: Lenovo Z51-70

Processor: Intel i5 5200U

Integrated GPU: Intel HD Graphics 5500

GPU: AMD R9 M375

I found a solution it was BIOS i update it 

During installation process select i don't have internet and in the 1st boot run your bios update(search your manufacturer website ) make sure you are not connected to internet

Same here. Dell Inspiron 7520. The latest AMD Radeon drive crashes Win 10. Even if I disabled the AMD card and use the internal graphic card, it still crashes out when the Windows 10 upgrade 1903 runs. So I am stuck with the old version of Win 10 :( . Can someone help?

I also have Dell Inspiron 7520 SE. 

Go to safe mode, Disable your AMD graphics auto driver update from windows, and then uninstall any graphic driver from AMD in device Manager. 

Use only your internal graphic driver, until AMD/Microsoft decides to fix this. 

same here I also have the dell 7520 SE and last week I decided I would do a fresh install and downloaded the Microsoft creation tool to download windows 10 ( I was bored ) and soon as it was all on boom crashed I have to safe mode it disable AMD GPU and my laptop all works the version of windows the creation tool gives you is 2004 the new one I have done old drivers new drivers reinstall windows took laptop apart to resit everything but nothing works as been said just have to wait for a fix

I have had the same issue, it had took me more then two weeks , but i found out if you’r using anything older then a rx580 or along that time line new windows updates mess woth it so dont update Windows 10 current 2020 amd drivers
