About 3 weeks ago I first saw 'resolving hosts' in Chrome when pages weren't loading, or were taking several minutes to load. The same thing was happening in Firefox and Edge at the same time. At that time a reboot seemed to fix it. Since then it's happened frequently, every few days. I tried a number of things and at first these sometimes seemed to be working, sometimes with a reboot: Changed to public DNS for TCP/IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Cycling modem and router Clearing browser caches Flushing PC cache Made sure Chrome page preload was off Checked host file Not using a VPN or proxy server Turned off port scan/DoS protection in router (previous router) Now I'm encountering 'resolving hosts' almost every single day. Sometimes it happens when I first turn on the PC in the morning. Sometimes in the middle of the day when I'm working, it will suddenly start. The only thing that now works reliably is typing this in a command window and rebooting: netsh int ip reset Can someone please help me get to the root of this problem? I'd never seen it before about 3-3.5 weeks ago.

I know! My fix stopped working 24 hours later after Malwarebytes downloaded an update. The fix no longer worked, I was unable to even uninstall Malwarebytes (it failed twice), so I ended up reformatting my machine. I opened a ticket with Malwarebytes asking them to let me know when this has been resolved as I will not reinstall it until that time! The same with me too... Nothing worked out and I had to uninstall Malwarebytes. I was lucky to use the free version and did not lose any prepaid fee for the Pro version. Now I have to relay on windows defender only which is not bad at all providing live protection too. If I suspect that I have some sort of virus I can download the free version again and clean any infection of course uninstalling it again before "resolving host " stories starts. I understand that we have no other alternative unless this issue is fixed for ever by the producers of this software.

I was tormented by this "resolving host" issue in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge for days! This fixed it immediately and permanently. Open Malwarebytes. Click on the gear icon on the upper right (which is to the right of "My account" and to the left of the "?"). Under “Windows Explorer settings” turn off “Add Malwarebytes options to Windows Explorer” Reboot your PC and the resolving host issue goes away immediately in both browsers! Unfortunately this did not work for me. From time to time the resolving host issue would happen for both Edge and Chrome - rebooting would usually fix it but it's such an inconvenience. I've also tried some other solutions like disabling IPv6 but still it would not completely eliminate the problem. So far the only reliable solution for me is to uninstall MWB :( Yeah, I was wondering why this isn't bigger news - maybe there aren't that many people out that that uses MWB? :(

You have made several excellent points Andrewde Soiza! I LOVE Malwarebytes and have used it for countless years both in my IT career, as well as at home. Thank you very much for the smart tips! My tip worked for one day, and then it failed the next day after Malwarebytes updated itself. I couldn't even uninstall Malwarebytes, it failed twice! I just reformatted my machine and started fresh with no Malwarebytes! I've opened a ticket with them and have asked them to let me know once it has been resolved so I can reinstall it then. I won't touch it until I hear from others that it has been resolved!

Completely agree. My entire system, running the updated W10 & Edge, was essentially crippled with the resolving host issue and related slowdowns with loading programs, freezes, etc. I have an open ticket with the MWB tech desk, which has gone unanswered for a few weeks. Not sure if their disinterest with a brand-killing, PR nightmare is a Covid related, resource deficiency or just market arrogance. The relevant thread on their service page still states that “there is no solution at this time.” I also completely deleted MWB Premium to restore my sanity, but found that the free, on-demand version will work sucessfully to scrub for questionable actors. I’ve switched exclusively to Chrome with the McAfee extension activated, for some additional, interactive net protection. Q. Why isn’t this issue bigger news?
