About 3 weeks ago I first saw 'resolving hosts' in Chrome when pages weren't loading, or were taking several minutes to load. The same thing was happening in Firefox and Edge at the same time. At that time a reboot seemed to fix it. Since then it's happened frequently, every few days. I tried a number of things and at first these sometimes seemed to be working, sometimes with a reboot: Changed to public DNS for TCP/IPv4: 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 Cycling modem and router Clearing browser caches Flushing PC cache Made sure Chrome page preload was off Checked host file Not using a VPN or proxy server Turned off port scan/DoS protection in router (previous router) Now I'm encountering 'resolving hosts' almost every single day. Sometimes it happens when I first turn on the PC in the morning. Sometimes in the middle of the day when I'm working, it will suddenly start. The only thing that now works reliably is typing this in a command window and rebooting: netsh int ip reset Can someone please help me get to the root of this problem? I'd never seen it before about 3-3.5 weeks ago.

I was tormented by this "resolving host" issue in both Chrome and Microsoft Edge for days! This fixed it immediately and permanently. Open Malwarebytes. Click on the gear icon on the upper right (which is to the right of "My account" and to the left of the "?"). Under “Windows Explorer settings” turn off “Add Malwarebytes options to Windows Explorer” Reboot your PC and the resolving host issue goes away immediately in both browsers!

After all this time they still haven't fixed the problem, I took it off my pc months ago and never looked back, won't be getting anymore of my money. I had the same problem too. I have tried every solution mentioned here under this topic and did not help. I have too Malwarebytes free which has no real time protection to filter actively and protect from virus websites or malware. Every time I used to put my laptop to sleep mode I was getting "resolving host " problem after starting to use it again ,while rebooting and ipconfig release/renew was only a temporary solution which after a sometime it came again almost all the time. I am not a software guy or even close to know the computer stuff except basic functions. However logically thinking I assumed that this was a problem related with restarting the computer and shutting down windows10. Therefore I unchecked the "fast startup" option from the power management menu because I do not care if the computer starts a bit slower than normally it should do with this checked on, as I am loosing more time while waiting the resolving host problem to clear. Since then I, never had , "resolving host" problem in any of my browsers again. I truly ignore how this helped me and definitely cannot explain how this works? May be someone who really is involved in windows software and similar problems can illuminate us to understand better this issue. Perhaps after a while this may resurface again ? but so far so good? Hope this workaround can help you too?

This problem appears to be linked to using Malwarebytes Premium. Their website suggested downloading the newest release and that seems to have solved it. I also turned off IPV6 on both my network adapters and rebooted. Here's hoping!
