Lenovo Ideapad S340: Integrated Camera not working after trying F8, LEnovo Vantage and Device Manager changes

Hi community. After reading some members having similar issue, I have tried some of the suggested fixes, such as activating camera through F8 (nothing happened), Checking Privacy and Permissions setting in Lenovo Vantage app (all ok), and also in Device Manager I tried Updating Drivers, Disabling/Enabling camera, Un-installing and Re-installing camera.

I have then removed Lenovo Vantage app.

No success. I tried the camera app and Skype, and still getting just a black screen instead of the camera view.

Appreciate any help with this issue.

Did EVERY GD thing and finally - the resolution was the BIOS update. Camera is now working. Lenovo is Chinese junk.

You could go to device manager, you find it under right click on start, and uninstall the camera. Than restart the laptop, Windows will find the uninstalled hardware and install it, as well as its driver. It is like a reset, but just for one device on the laptop.

If the driver which Lenovo supplied to Microsoft is not working, we could try an older driver, or they might have a newer on their site. We could look.

I did this, uninstalling the camera (or the driver, I think that's the same option?), but on restarting the laptop the uninstalled hardware was not found. So now when I go to Device Manager my camera doesn't appear at all. I've tried running the Scan For Hardware Changes option, but nothing changes. Any ideas?

    Thank you!

Glad some folks have had success but as for my clients machine it's gotta be hardware.  As I said earlier I even did a clean Windows install.  Ctrl+f8 does nothing, lenovo advantage camera privacy does nothing.  When you open the camera app it quickly flashes between "we can't find your camera" and "close other apps using camera" (hard to tell it's flashing so fast).  Lenovo advantage says camera in use by another app.  Used process explorer to see if anything had the camera in use and there was nothing.  Odd thing is in the 2 months we have been dealing with this it started working again briefly.  1st time it lasted a week or so, 2nd time only about a day.

Thanks so much. I had the same problem. I just finished a virtual job interview, I could see the interviewers but they could not see me. After the interview, I was trying to fix the problem but I could not until I found your tip. Now the camera works fine. Thanks again.
