This is the second update in a row that has stopped my computer even booting. There have been so many issues with Windows 10 updates since launch, but none of them have bricked my machine until this year.
Thanks fir the details but to create an account i have to have access to the PC but it wont boot up ! I get messages on the blank screen such as “attempting to repair” or Errors have occurred” Tried advanced mode setting which i selected from a small menu. Same priblem when restarting. Im going to take the bix to my Geek Squad to get my machine sorted. Ell
Most folks don't have a windows recover USB or CD, but if you do, that would be one way to try a repair. No guarantee what would be save as far as applications. You would need to boot from that USB or CD.
That is one of the last resorts.
However. one gentleman suggested restarting 4 times. I have not tried that. Another usual suggestion is to boot into "safe mode" if you are even able to do that.
Not sure what the suggestions to disable updates for 7 days would do unless somebody has a patch to release in 7 days. But it would be wise to stop update until something is resolved. I stopped updates for a couple of weeks to try different solutions each time I try the update. I was able to uninstall the update, sounds like you do not have that option. I did do a total backup to an external hard disk now. I will try the updates later..... again. I learn the hard way.
Sorry not a sure fire suggestion here.
Hi Guys,
My deepest thanks for the info n advice here. Just uninstalled the update and all is well. I have suspended updates until 6th March and would appreciate your advice if any of you manage to get this up and running correctly.
It stopped me signing into Windows
Made all my programs disappear from the Desktop, Taskbar and Quick Start.
Removed my Personal settings Wallpaper.
Would not permit System Restore to work
My keyboard changed
Stopped a multitude of my programs working including email. eM Client and browser Firefox.
As others have already stated all the programs I managed to get up and running failed as soon as I restarted due to the temporary status.
BitDefender seemed unaffected.
My stress levels were nearly off the scale.
Microsoft really need to get their act together. Unlike me many would be extremely dependent on a working system.
Again My Thanks
