After updating KB4532693 my user account was gone. Thanks a lot!

I understand that an unprotected computer is no good computer. But a dead computer is no computer at all.

So I prefer a computer that is not so secure, that is protected by a good anti-virus software, that does not surf unsafe data sources and that gets a regular backups.

Microsoft.

Updates are **** as long as they are not 100% tested. It does suck that you have to constantly reconfigure your computer because of updates.

Stop this policy.

My computer, my decision if I want updates or not.

Ich verstehe, dass ein ungeschützter Rechner kein guter Rechner ist. Aber ein toter Rechner ist gar kein Rechner. Also lieber einen, der nicht ganz so sicher ist, der von einer guten antivierensoftware geschützt ist, auf dem keine unsichere datenquellen gesurft werden und der regelmäßig ein Backup bekommt.

Updates sind so lange mist, so lange sie nicht 100%ig getestet sind. Es ist doch ****, dass man ständig wegen der updates in seinen rechner neu konfigurieren muss.

Stoppt diese Politik.

In relation to fixing the temporary profile issue after installing KB4532693, three out of four computers in the household did not have any issues but the fourth was affected after updating, found that the user profile that was being used to install the update (my own admin user account) was the only one with the profile issue and not the other two (also admin) accounts that were on the computer as those profiles seemed unaffected by the update.

Tried booting into safe mode, leaving safe mode and trying a few restarts etc which did not seem to work but after removing the KB4532693 update had found my user profile was back to what it should be.

In the end I managed to install the update without any issues and with no broken user profiles by creating a new user administrative local only account and installed the update from there by downloading the update from the Microsoft update catalog.

Note: this might work using windows update from that account too but did not try this as I had paused windows update to prevent the update reinstalling by itself.

The new user account that was created just to install the KB4532693 update also did not appear to have any profile issues afterwards.

The steps I took:

1. Uninstalled KB4532693 with the broken profile account, paused windows updates
2. Restarted
3. Created a new user administrative local only account just for installing the update - I named it "updatetemp"
4. Logged in to the newly created user account, installed KB4532693 downloaded from the update catalog
5. Restarted
6. Signed back into my own user account with no issues.

Its simply far to risky to depend on safe mode or 4 reboots given the havoc these updates are causing. Best to wait until Microsoft stste officially that they have solved the problem. In the meantime its best to stop all Windows 10 updates. this has to be a serious problem given how long its taking Microsoft to solve it.
