my camera is in black and white. How do I change it to color?

Sadly I do not have any other info for you, but would suggest looking at your other installed applications, as clearly it is a single or series of conflicting/overriding settings that are hijacking your ability to control the camera. Boot into safe mode, and check your camera, and perhaps you can start to isolate the offender through tactical enabling of applications.

Thanks for this- this is the first thing that actually worked for me despite working with Microsoft and Lenovo support. It's clearly an issue with the camera settings not hardware, and seems related to the 2004 update. However, I can't get the correct settings to stick - after restoring to defaults on Skype, when on Skype the camera is finally back in color, however after I close out and try another app it goes back to black and white. I'm hitting apply, etc, have tried rebooting and all the other tricks. Anything I'm missing / any other thoughts?

You did the right thing.  For a new laptop, you needed it to work properly.  Enjoy the laptop.  I love mine.

My Lenovo was under warranty - I took in back to the retailer who then sent it to Lenovo.  It took about 3 weeks to get back but the camera was fixed.  They (Lenovo) replaced the camera mechanism completely.

when I turned on my computer, there was a message of an update to windows 10.  The update was done and it rebooted my laptop.  Lo and behold, now my camera works in color.  I didn't do anything and now it works.  To all with the same problem, download the updated windows 10 and maybe your camera will work again in color.  Good luck and let me know if it did.  Thanks to all who tried to help me.
