Error 0x800f0922 for 2020-01 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1909 for x64-based Systems (KB4532695)

Install attempt fails with error 0x800f0922 whether I run Windows Update  to install this update or run windows10.0-kb4532695-x64_a85fd28af075ebfd8b0753d2c2aca244e926c3ce.msu

Running WIndows 10 Pro Ver. 1909 build 18363.592

I have tried every suggestion by HiltonOishi in https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/failed-install-attempt-error-code-0x800f0922/c5eb31d7-f04f-4ff8-9d6f-f39e4f03944b

After the update installs I restart the computer and when it reboots it gets to 93% in "Working on Updates" then I get "We couldn't complete the updates Undoing changes"

Windows Update says this is an optional update. Should I just ignore the problem till the next update?

    Indeed, it seems I was a good boy... LOL

    That's a good suggestion - I will actually do it this week to guarantee a safe journey to any further issue down the line.

    You are welcome. Happy Holidays to you too, Sir Redwind. Seems Santa switched you from his naughty to his nice list, is all I can think. If all is running fairly well, now is the time to make a Windows system image backup. It will backup all your Windows partitions so that you can restore them, if/when you are moved back to the other list. Need instructions?

    Hey PCR, how are you? 

    So, yesterday out of nowhere Windows got updated automatically to 20H2.

    Since last time we spoke I tried 2-3 to update it manually once again, but all failed.

    Also, WIndowsUpdate tried a few other times, but rolled back at the end of the installation.

    Then yesterday a new message asking for a reboot appeared and I was sure it was going to fail once more - but this time it worked.

    I am glad it did, but still I have no idea why they all failed before. :D

    Gotta love Windows and Microsoft!!!!! :D

    Dear all,

        currently I'm installing the 2020-12 cumulative update on windows 10 20H2 via windows update. It always fails with code 0x800f0922 on the second half at 97% and reverting to the unmodified state. I've tried sfc und dism commands, the system partition is 100MB in size with 37MB free space. So I don't know what to do now, since update will be installed after every new boot.

    (1) BitLocker data encryption uses the system partition. So best turn it off before starting, & turn it back on afterward. I really don't know for sure it still won't be disturbed. I'm just hoping it will switch seamlessly to using EFI on its own.

    (2) I had qualms about suggesting you delete that 2nd MSR partition. I tried to research why you might have two. I came up empty.

    (a) Did you create that on your own when dealing with Linux?

    (b) Do you have a major 3rd-party software that might have created it?

    (c) Do you think it was Linux that did it?

    (d) Would you like me to adjust those instructions not to delete it?
