Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure

Hello

I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.

It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.

I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

Microsoft hasn't said anything like that. Unless Microsoft is going to now drop support of things without ever saying so, so until they do announce something I don't believe this.

Also if Harman/Kardon force installs Alexa or Google assistant on my Invoke I'll sue them. They can gift me an echo or Google Home speaker though, but if I wanted Amazon or Google in my house I already would. They can't completely change the product after purchase like that.

    Hi and Happy new year

I have 3 Harman kardon/cortana speakers and I experienced the same thing as all of you.

seems to be a cortana issue and Microsoft is discontinuing Cortana 01/31/2020 on IOS and Android phones in all countries.

    except USA.

    so there are glitches.

MS /Kardon sopposed to be send new firmware out.

    when ????

I had some user issues but seems to be resolved, but what I

noticed is Cortana is Dumber  not able read my email some of the simple things.

MS is working on moving her to Office 365.

    hope this helps

    ed

I have three invokes also and the smarts of cortana had been depreciated for some time, was OK initially and then becoming a complete mess more recently, she's gotten less intelligent over time. The apps less intuitive and the whole thing is a train wreck outside the US market. The apps have become useless  the win 10 insider app does nothing, all in all a great shame, all that promise destroyed.

My lifx home lighting is all still working, xbox is dead and won't link, email won't work from personal or O365  but calendar does. Weather is in Fahrenheit, unless asked, timers and lists are working OK. BTW I'm in Australia.

Now with the new alliance they could have allowed her to catch up to alexa and google home but no, msft are too precious.

I have had the same issue at ThomasBee.   I have not been able to complete the setup process so I can use my invoke for the first time.  I am able to complete the setup process all the way up to the point when it tries to connect to the Microsoft server to update and it immediately fails the setup process.  I have tried completing the setup process on multiple networks, computers, and mobile phone and I always encounter the same issue.  Its pretty sad that I can't even use my speaker to play music.  Microsoft needs to fix this issue or stop requiring all these steps if you don't want to use Cortana at all.

I have exactly this issue. We have 2 Invokes that are working ok, although I never linked them to Skype or the XBox, so I can't say anything about that.

I gave my daughter a third one for Christmas and setup is failing exactly as described here. I swapped hers for one of the others so she has Spotify working on that and is happy enough, but I still have the new one that can't complete setup and so is a total brick.
