Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure

Hello

I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.

It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.

I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

I am absolutely fine with using it as just a BT speaker, however I can't even do that because it won't let me connect it to anything without setting it up through Cortana first, and Cortana setup won't work on three devices (W10, iPhone, iPad) because... well, it's Microsoft.

Basically, with the sole exception of Xbox, anything that is consumer oriented and MS branded is guaranteed to be killed off after a short while. Only a fool would invest into MS ecosystem at this point, outside of Windows / Office. What a disaster.

Time to pack that nice Invoke and dump it into trash.

I read on here that someone said that they are unplugging their Invoke for 2021.  I think that is a great idea bc then the firmware update won't make it to the device, but I'm not sure what I will use as a year long replacement?

There should be a firmware update when you're invoked becomes a revoke they take away Cortana and it just becomes a Bluetooth speaker not even a wi-fi speaker freaking sucks the CEO of Microsoft should be wanted for the murder of Cortana

I am sure glad I won the Invoke in Bing sweepstakes. Given MS' history of killing consumer devices and systems (Windows Mobile, anyone ? How about Windows Phones ? And now, Cortana....) committing to any consumer level hardware by MS long-term is... very brave.

That said, it appears I now have a pretty paperweight, as I can't connect it to anything without Cortana, and Cortana throws up an error on two devices (Win laptop and an iPhone).

Any ideas on how I just use it as a BT speaker without connecting to Cortana first ?

Windows' Cortana wouldn't work, but Cortana on Android did. (I was surprised to find that it was still in the store.)
