Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure

Hello

I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.

It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.

I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

This may be related to the issue we are experiencing:

    https://support.skype.com/en/faq/FA12091/why-are-some-features-not-available-in-skype-anymore

That info isn't related but I joined your thread since the Cortana Skype Linking is the main issue in your thread. Here's the link for everyone here:

Now that still doesn't help me on the Xbox Commands specific to the Invoke at all. Can anyone else confirm that the shortened Commands "Hey Cortana, Xbox On" are not working for them anymore. Cortana just says "Something went wrong please try again at another time" but at least she isn't doing a search for "Xbox On" and confusing it for Xbox One and then telling me about the Xbox Series X anyway (I have never seen a smart speaker be so stupid).

While the long commands work "Hey Cortana, tell Xbox to turn on" it's more of a mouthful and since you have to say more, there's a higher chance she'll misunderstand you. Launching games or apps is more difficult with the long commands too. I do know I have it paired with my Xbox as when I say "Hey Cortana, Launch Netflix" she again says "Something went wrong please try again at another time" rather than saying that she can't launch apps from here (this is when the Invoke isn't paired to any Xbox One, so she tries to open Netflix on the Invoke to which she can't obviously).

My Invoke has not worked for about 2 months. It goes through all the steps to connect and says it is all set to go, but never finishes the setup. The red light on the top just keeps flashing. Will someone from Microsoft step in to help? From all the issues, it sounds as if this is something MS did during an upxate. Why would allbthese Invokes quit working around the same time?

Ok now I can't make calls on the invoke. Skype got unlinked from Cortana and I can't link it back. At the last step I click agree and nothing happens, not on Mobile or PC. Is there another way than the notebook to link Cortana with Skype?

    same problem

Try using a different computer if you have one. That worked for me.

I tried a desktop and 2 laptops as well as a windows 10 phone (versions 1903, 1909 on one laptop, and 1709 for the phone). I tried an old android 6.0 phone as well. I contacted Microsoft support, the guy wanted me to give him remote access to my pc. I didn't like the sound of that, and it definitely isn't on the device level for any of my devices, nor a network issue as I've tried it on three different networks as well as mobile data (I even tried it with wired ethernet on the 1903 laptop).

Now I pay for a Skype Number just for the speaker, but some random Indian dude who I can barely hear and understand that has no idea what Cortana Speaker I'm talking about isn't helpful. Nothing against him, but what other support can I contact? Skype? Because it's mainly a problem in Cortana's Notebook.

One another issue, the Xbox Skill isn't working exactly it should for the Invoke either. The long commands "Hey Cortana, Tell Xbox to launch Netflix" works but the short commands "Hey Cortana, Launch Netflix" don't for some reason (the speaker is fully paired with my Xbox One). They stopped working the same time as the problems linking with Skype started.
