Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure

Hello

I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.

It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.

I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

Finally, after 3 days of trying to 'Update my new invoke it worked. I unplugged it and plugged it in maybe 9 or 10 times. It finally updated successfully. Hang in there and keep trying.

Great that you got it working.

My three three invokes have been going well (in Australia) but I am a little concerned now with the retrenching of cortana. The invokes certainly do less than they once did but at least home automation is still working and other basics are functioning.

I can no longer use the windows 10 apps to do much with her now they are all updated to the latest build (insider). She's been removed from the Android launcher and now only exists on the cortana standalone app for Android which still works but in reality has also been pulled from markets outside USA.

How are other international users finding their experience?

I really want to keep using cortana I have invested much over the years in a Microsoft ecosystem and cortana is my favourite of the assistants. If the invokes eventually just stop working I am hoping Harman can provide an update we can use to push alexa or google assistant to the devices.

With the new consortium formed recently that suggests inter assistant device compatibility will be embraced I am also hopeful microsoft may relent and join and allow future consumer expansion for cortana.

The prior post about reseting via the pin hole is what worked for myself. I had the same issue months long of never finishing its set up process. Once i reset via the pin hole (noticing a ding sound i have never heard before). It then completed the set up entirety and has been fine ever since.

Did you get a resolution. I have just brought one out of the box and Harman Karmon and Microsoft have been useless All they can do is blame the other.

The approach that worked for me (I'm located in UK).

I launched it - waited for update failure notification - then just unplug from the socket. Plug again and wait for it to update again. In several attempts - on the fifth, it worked fine. After was more updates needed. Do the same.

Since then, it is working fine for me.
