Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure

Hello

I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.

It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.

I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.

If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

    Thanks, I appreciate your help.

Unfortunately, I think the problem is beyond just a router reset. I was able to get my Invoke speakers connected/working, but the firmware failed to update. So my speakers are all the way back at Barracuda_libre-2.1729.2, rather than the newest version (11.1842). It would seem from other boards I have seen on here that Microsoft has either taken down or turned off the servers completely. I am guessing that they are slowly winding down to potentially kill Invoke, and or Cortana.

I hope I am wrong, but that is the feeling I am getting. As someone who had a Zune, Windows Phone, and a Microsoft Band, I am all to familiar with Microsoft's propensity to drastically end products.

    Cheers,

    Hi ContainingLordP

Sorry to hear you are having issues. Just recently my two stopped working but I had had some issues with some other devices also. I rebooted my router and my other devices started working properly again, but neither of my Invokes picked back up. I unplugged them from power waited a few seconds and then plugged them back up. Before too long they both started working again.

If you have not, maybe try rebooting your router just to see if it would help? I don't think MS has done any updates at least that have completely left my two not working.

I do know how frustrating it is though. MS did a lousy job pushing Cortana. She could have been the go to assistant had MS had stayed at it. She was better than Siri in the beginning. (and still is in some ways in my opinion). Alexa and Google had barely started. Like many things with MS. An opportunity lost.

    Good luck.

I have two Invoke speakers that are failing when trying to update/setup process. Unfortunately, the factory reset trick does not seem to be working on my end. Now that it has been a week or so since the last comment, I'm wondering if anyone has heard any sort of update on this issue from Microsoft's end? That perhaps is outside of this thread? Right now my Invoke speakers are essentially dead in the water, which is beyond frustrating. :/

    Cheers,

I don't generally use the alexa skill. I tried it after i read this and it's still working for me.

It seems that the Alexa skill is also broken. I have tried to reconnect it and it's not working. Is this the same for everyone?

Sorry, it's working strike that one, there were a few issues but this seems to be working ok now.
