Harman Kardon Invoke Setup Failure
Hello
I've owned my Harman/Kardon Invoke speaker for almost 3 years now, and haven't had an issue with it until now.
It stopped working suddenly, and when I tried to reset it (by holding the mute button for 5 seconds) the speaker never finishes setting up. The Cortana device setup app says it's ready to go, but the speaker itself never says so, the light just keeps slowly blinking forever.
I've tried using different WIFI networks, re-installing the setup app, trying the setup on my phone, and I've even made sure all my software is up to date. I have a theory that the device can never be linked to my account for some reason, since it never shows up in the "My Devices" panel in my Cortana app.
If anyone has a solution to this, it would be much appreciated!

2020-04-19T16:44:59+00:00 Foremost, I am with you, I wish I set mine up a year ago too.
So, I will relay what I have been told from Harman and Kardon and Microsoft, but take all of this with a grain of salt.
Harman and Kardon said that updates cannot be done manually, and that all updates are processed over the air. I ask them about the servers, to which they said that if Microsoft pulled the servers, the Invokes would not work all together. Microsoft told me that all Firmware updates for the Invoke, are processed by and or at Harman and Kardon, Microsoft does not have access to the Firmware servers. Basically, Microsoft said it is not their problem, Harman and Kardon seem to be blaming our networks, than our devices, in that order. Since most of our Invokes are out of warranty, Harman and Kardon recommended that in my case, I take them to a repair center.
In navigating this issue, I cannot help but feel that both could be at fault. With all the changes coming to Cortana, it is highly likely that Microsoft broke something in the coding, or simply changed it, so less end users are supported. I saw this happen first hand with Windows Phones. Likewise, since Harman and Kardon have completely erased the Invokes existence on its website, them shutting things down seems quite probable. Whoever is at fault, I feel confident in saying that I do not believe either one anticipated the end around many of us have found, to get this thing to at least somewhat work. My bet is that will be "fixed" sooner rather than later.

2020-04-19T14:41:30+00:00 Same situation.
I've tried multiple resets (mic button and pin hole methods). While unplugging then rebooting allows it to complete setup, the firmware never updates. I'm stuck on Barracuda_libre-2.1729.2. Ugh.
I think Microsoft pulled the plug on the servers.
Is there a manual way to update the firmware?
Or does anyone know of a tried and true method of upgrading to Barracuda_libre-11.1842.0?
I wish I had setup the dang thing when I purchased it a year ago!!!

2020-04-12T01:47:39+00:00 I would be incredibly curious to know, what firmware version those of you are on, who used this Factory Reset method?
Sort of similarly, I was able to get two of mine working, by going through the setup, it failing, unplugging them for a minute, than plugging them back in, and letting the setup finish. They connected to Cortana, but the problem is, my firmware never really updated, rather it is back at Barracuda_libre-2.1729.2, rather than the newer Barracuda_libre-11.1842.0. While I am scared of doing the reset method, if the possibility exists of updating the firmware correctly, perhaps I will chance it.
