mat-debug-xxxx.log files

Why are these files appearing in quantity (every 15 minutes), while running Windows 10 home, in my /apps/local/temp folder? They did not appear before the last 3 days ago.

I was able to find that the program  that was generating these  files were generated with a program that seemed to be connected to  MS Office -- but one posted noted that they  never had Office installed --- but  still got them 

It seems that it has something to do with updates from MS ---- I seemed that the one solution  suggested seems to work -- I too have w10 / home 

the  solution was to 

run msconfig32 

set to to  reboot in  minimal safe mode 

reboot 

cd to tmp folder --- delete all the mat log file 

run msconfig32 again -- reset to normal boot mode 

reboot  

this seems to have stop the files for showing up 

it would be nice if MS would fix this -- are you listening MS?

That sounds a good idea. I looked at the installed programs and there's one called "Office" (not "Office Hub") and I've removed it. Let's see what happens.

The msconfig trick didn't work - I found a load of mat files today.

Well, the mat files seem to have gone away for good (famous last words). And as I don't have (and don't intend to have) office on my machine, uninstalling it shouldn't make any difference.

If you're running Office, though, it might not be a good thing to do - I have absolutely no idea.

I have the same problem. After reading most of the replies I emptied the temp files. Then I opened Microsoft games, played a game, closed the program and went back and opened temp files again. There was a mat-debug file back there!

It would be interesting if this same procedure would have the same result with anyone else out there. At least we'd have an idea where the mat-debug files are generated from.
