My anti virus software threw up the following:

MicrosoftEdge.exe attempted to establish a connection relying on an expired certificate to markets.books.microsoft.com. We blocked the connection to keep your data safe since web pages must renew their certificates with a certification authority to stay current, and outdated security certificates represent a risk.

When it's fixed my Bitdefender will quit blocking it. Apparently it's a useless Microsoft file that is not needed or my computer would malfunction with it blocked. If your getting pop-ups, maybe get an anti-virus software like Bitdefender that works in the background without all of the annoying pop-ups.

Well I found out somewhere on this thread that the new version of Edge fixed that problem. Although Microsoft hasn't made this new versión available vía Windows Update for my region yet, I was able to find it on Microsoft Site, download it and installed it and the problem was solved.
Now, getting used to this new versión of Edge, when I still wasn't used to the previous versión is a whole new issue. I'm a fan of Internet Explorer and of the control that I had over many settings. Not so with Edge, and with this new version is particularly difficult to find where to turn on and off certain settings. That's why I have downloaded Chrome as my default browser and also Opera when in need to use a VPN protected connection (my ISP is state owned).

Hi Roger, I've been having the same problem for months as well. Bitdefender blocks at least 5 times a day. I copied and pasted the offending URL. From there I saw a lot of comments about a "MAC address", which is also attached to the web address of the attempted intruder. Me thinks "what the heck is a MAC address?"Somewhere in that site a company by the name of Quora.com was mentioned. I googled it. I couldn't get into the site unless I gave them my first-born. So I tried the backdoor. I went to one of their comment sections and got into the platform that way. This is the link I used. You have to enter everything including the question "Can-any-etc.etc.

It seems that Quora sells licenses which allow people to "enter" someone's computer. Licenses are only good for a limited time and have to be repurchased. That's why I see so many connects and disconnects on my Network. On Quora's info I'm still perplexed but convinced that this is the problem. No virus remover can scrub this clean. I'm not from the twilight zone but I've also been getting notifications, which disappear seconds later, that contain very personal information which isn't even logged on my computer. Getting paranoid? Maybe I am.
I actually started out by finding my network connections where I saw that I had been repeatedly disconnected while this other URL connected. Go to settings in start menu - Network&Internet - Status - Network Status - change your Network Settings - view your Network Properties. That's where I saw all the connects and disconnects.
