mincraft bedrock server - You need to authenticate with microsoft services

Has anyone found a solution to hosting a Minecraft bedrock server (which has worked fine for a long time), all of a sudden showing the error message 'You need to authenticate with Microsoft services'

tried:

  • signing out and in again
  • restarting server
  • turning server into offline / back into online
  • reinstalling Minecraft app on my PC
  • checked logs and confirmed full access to the internet for server

suggestions?

The Bedrock server executable must be run with administrator permissions.

Right-click bedrock_server.exe

Click Properties

Click Compatibility

Click Change settings for all users

Click to select "Run this program as an administrator"

Click OK twice.

So I had this issue too,

The fix of taking the server worked for connecting offline but then my GF couldn't connect from her place. So I had to set it back to "true" and try another fix.

I restarted the Xbox (as opposed to turning it off and on as I use the instant on setting so powering off doesn't actually work as a way of resetting it as it never really turns off)

I'm not sure if that was actually what fixed it or not as the following also changed

I opened Xbox companion on the PC running the server (not sure how that would have changed anything though)

I tinkered with my Xbox privacy settings (not sure how that would have made a difference either) 

I drank a can of coke (I am 100% sure that wasn't what fixed it but include it so as to be thorough) :)

If it happens again il come back and add further info to the post if not, consider it as having Perma fixed the issue for me.

    You need to adjust your time (clock) where the server is hosted.

    Windows:

    • Click on your clock in the taskbar.
    • Click on the Internet Time tab.
    • Change Settings.
    • Click update now.

    Linux:

    RedHat / CentOS / Fedora

    yum -y install ntpdate; /usr/sbin/ntpdate -u pool.ntp.org

    Debian / Ubuntu

    apt-get -y install ntpdate; /usr/sbin/ntpdate -u pool.ntp.org

    If you purchase a bedrock server from a service provider:

    They need to run these commands to correct the problem for you.

    In my case, restarting the xbox did not solve the problem, but force-quitting Minecraft did.  From the home menu navigate to the minecraft icon and press the menu button (hamburger button).  You get a context menu with a "quit" option.  Pressing that fixed my issue.

    It seems that both restarting the xbox and powering off the xbox do not fully unload or reset the game.  You can see a difference in game load time.  After restarting the xbox, the game loads quickly, presumably because it has cached a bunch of things (including something corrupt which is causing our problem).  After force-quitting from the xbox menu, the load time is longer, indicating that the game has been fully unloaded and is restarting from a more pristine state.
