Cannot download ANY app from Store. Error c101a006

Hi, I'm trying to download my apps before the store shutdown next month but I cannot download ANY app.

It shows an error with the code c101a006.

I was able to download any apps yesterday even without an email attached to the phone. Later I decided to restore the phone to the factory defaults before downloading the apps in anticipation to the Store being terminated. After the restore, I signed in with my email and for my surprise I can NOT download ANYTHING from the store.

There is some default app updates pending in the download section that also cannot be installed for the same reason, giving the same error code.

They start downloading but autocancels right after. When I tap then, they show the same error code.

I'm pretty sure the Store is not closed yet.

I already tried a lot of things that people suggest:

-Changing date+time to December 3rd of 2017

-Reset the phone (voldown+power)

-Restoring to defaults again

-Creating a new email

-Reflashed using Windows Device Recovery Tool

A lot of people already had problems with the Store not downloading apps, I also saw that some of them got this problem after factory resetting the phone just like me.

The problem in the link is not 1:1 but once I changed the date+time, I got the error above.

How are we supposed to download our apps before the Store shutdown in the next month, if we still have problems like this?

Can a representative take a look at these problems? Please.

Hi and thanks for the question.

That is not until mid/end of December, and my Windows Phone 10 is just fine at the moment.

That confirms that it is an issue with the Store on Microsoft's side only affecting WP8 devices, this already happened at least a couple of times this year. Nothing you can do about it but wait.

    PS

I am a big fan of Microsoft and Windows, and would have stuck with Windows Phone had it continued.

I just feel disappointed that a company with Microsoft's resources, and with customers who genuinely appreciate their products, seems to have no solutions when it forces us to move on.

Hi and thanks for the question.

She is on Windows Phone 8.1.

    General Store Issue

I believe it is the general issue above, as no app will download (not just WhatsApp), and we get the exact same messages.

I just wanted to point out to Microsoft, that these store issues have a real impact on people's lives, and frustrating given we are all encouraged to use messaging solutions by Microsoft and others.

I appreciate Microsoft does not produce WhatsApp, but it knows that the world uses WhatsApp extensively, and it must also know that WhatsApp will not open if an update fails.  You are effectively locked out of the app and your chats.

All my wife wants to do is open the app and "save the chats as email", before we change phones.

    WhatsApp Support End

We are aware of the ceasing support, and the total lack of assistance from either Microsoft or WhatsApp.

That is not until mid/end of December, and my Windows Phone 10 is just fine at the moment.

We are shortly moving to Android Phones.

I won't go into the impossibility of migrating Windows WhatsApp messages.dbs files to Android.

You need Interop Tools to unlock the App file system to get the unencrypted version, which is daunting for me, and impossible for your average user. Also, these don't work for my Lumia 950, and the store issues prevent me doing anything for my wife's phone.

In short we are at a dead end, and must accept that our entire chat histories cannot be migrations (and in my wife's care may be lost for ever unless she can re-open WhatsApp).

However, we have accepted that neither Microsoft or WhatsApp care about helping customers move from Windows Phone to Android.

    Best Regards

    Julian

My wife is having the same problem.  She now cannot access her WhatsApp to extract the chats, and has lost her entire WhatsApp history, as WhatsApp does not let you operate it if it cannot update.

Your issue may be different and related to Whatsapp ending support for all Windows Mobile platforms rather than an issue with the Store in general. Which phone does your wife use, running which OS version ?

Every few months Microsoft develop an issue with access to the Store, generally for WP8.1 devices. It usually takes a couple of days to fix, please wait and do not do any resets or firmware reinstalls on your devices, this will not solve the problem.
