You will no longer be able to redeem your free Minecraft Windows 10 code from Mojang. This had to be done by Monday 20th April 2020.

.

.

.

So I'm trying to redeem Minecraft for Windows 10 (I purchased the game back in 2011) and I keep getting this error upon hitting the redeem button:

Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later!

Are there really no codes available right now or is this a error on my end somehow?

This thread has run its course and would be locked. Those seeking Minecraft Windows 10 edition should see a code on the redeem page.

Windows 10 Code Error - Fixed!

https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360038403371-Windows-10-Code-Error

The redemption program would end on April 20, 2020 so make sure to get the code before.

If you purchased Minecraft Java Edition before October 18, 2018, you will see a button that says “Redeem” in your account.

·       If the button is grayed out, you’ve already claimed the code. Log in to your Microsoft account to redownload the game.

·       If you don’t have a Redeem button, you purchased Minecraft Java Edition after October 18, 2018 and are not eligible for this promotion.

update: 17th April 2020

Mojang are aware that there are no codes available at the moment, for those eligible. They are actively working on this and will get it working before the deadline.

Same problem with me and my wife's keys purchased back in 2013, support ticket cut 11 days ago.  Twitter support has been basically no help, Minecraft discord said it's a widespread issue and support is usually 1-2 months for a response...absolutely ridiculous.

reached out to Xbox support last night and it seemed promising (agent said he could help me get it sorted out)...but then the chat disconnected.

Tried again this morning and the agent said he was unaware of the issue and unable to provide the codes because it was Mojang that offered it but would escalate and see what could be done internally.  I'm not holding out hope for that one so I'll probably just try again and see if another agent knows more about it.

I followed the advice of going to: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/contactus/

And sent 2 screenshots: Error code and email receipt.

    Response:

Alright! So purchase confirmed, so what we're going to do now is I'll be I'll be forwarding this case to our escalations team to get codes that you should be receiving expedited. In the meantime, I'll be keeping this case open and I can guarantee you that I'll be personally handling this case and I'll be making sure to have it set as prioritized so that we can get this issue resolved ASAP.  I'll be reaching out to you via email within 24-72 hours.

Glad to hear you made some progress!

The second guy I dealt with was very helpful and said they were receiving a number of cases they were collating together.  He couldn't help me specifically with codes but said both me and my wife's accounts were added to the list so hopefully we're getting closer to a bigger solution.
