You will no longer be able to redeem your free Minecraft Windows 10 code from Mojang. This had to be done by Monday 20th April 2020.

.

.

.

So I'm trying to redeem Minecraft for Windows 10 (I purchased the game back in 2011) and I keep getting this error upon hitting the redeem button:

Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later!

Are there really no codes available right now or is this a error on my end somehow?

This thread has run its course and would be locked. Those seeking Minecraft Windows 10 edition should see a code on the redeem page.

Windows 10 Code Error - Fixed!

The redemption program would end on April 20, 2020 so make sure to get the code before.

If you purchased Minecraft Java Edition before October 18, 2018, you will see a button that says “Redeem” in your account.

·       If the button is grayed out, you’ve already claimed the code. Log in to your Microsoft account to redownload the game.

·       If you don’t have a Redeem button, you purchased Minecraft Java Edition after October 18, 2018 and are not eligible for this promotion.

update: 17th April 2020

Mojang are aware that there are no codes available at the moment, for those eligible. They are actively working on this and will get it working before the deadline.

Update: 18th April 2020

Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later!

Posting here to add to the numbers and discussion. Another person on Dec 18 still having issues with codes. As stated before in this post many times, this issue should be been resolved within a day or two of its discovery.

There was never and currently is NOT a disclaimer saying that the codes are limited or to "get your free copy while supplies last," etc. I don't know if two lawyers are actually pursuing this or not, but there is a legitimate case for upset customers that are having a right infringed upon by the company.

Any delay in resolving this issue is clearly a conscious decision being made by someone in leadership at Mojang or Microsoft. The ongoing theory of holding off on the codes until the holiday season seems reasonable given the stunts some of these big companies try to pull on innocent customers. I am abhorred that this issue is still present this many days after the initial reports. I have only been following for about a week but I know many more have waited much longer for resolution.

I support Mojang and Microsoft, in general; however, I explicitly condemn and reject what seems to be a company ignoring hundreds (nay, thousands) of loyal customers to earn more money. We don't know if this is the intention, but we have nothing left to believe given the severe lack of participation in this discussion from any official support staff on the topic.

We are left to assume the worst.

Edit: YES, I submitted a support ticket... a few days ago. *crickets*
