You will no longer be able to redeem your free Minecraft Windows 10 code from Mojang. This had to be done by Monday 20th April 2020.

So I'm trying to redeem Minecraft for Windows 10 (I purchased the game back in 2011) and I keep getting this error upon hitting the redeem button:
Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later!
Are there really no codes available right now or is this a error on my end somehow?

Mojang have posted that this problem with the codes has been resolved, and you should see the option to get your code if you are eligible. Please try redeeming your code now.

The redemption program would end on April 20, 2020 so make sure to get the code before.
If you purchased Minecraft Java Edition before October 18, 2018, you will see a button that says “Redeem” in your account.
· If the button is grayed out, you’ve already claimed the code. Log in to your Microsoft account to redownload the game.
· If you don’t have a Redeem button, you purchased Minecraft Java Edition after October 18, 2018 and are not eligible for this promotion.

Mojang are aware that there are no codes available at the moment, for those eligible. They are actively working on this and will get it working before the deadline.

This has to be very frustrating. On one hand they are in no way obligated to allow us these codes. They decided to give these codes out to give old Java players multiple editions of the game without having to pay extra. I do think we have to see this as a gift and if we are being frustrated at not receiving a free gift is that exactly right? Well it seems as if the "gift" was promised, so I think getting mad at their lack of communication and their false commitments are fine, but this has been going on for a month. I would still really like my copy of Windows ten as I am a college student making very little; my girlfriend and I play the game on Java, but she doesn't know the game as much so I'd like a tutorial world (bedrock tutorial world) for her to play and learn the game. Also purchasing realms on bedrock is cheaper and we have several friends on other platforms who we could then play with. All in all we cannot afford a $60 purchase of Windows 10 MineCraft especially when we already own the game. I wish y'all the best of luck and I really hope mojang follows through with their promise.
Also to anyone who is accusing Microsoft, do understand that they have replied on several other posts that this is a Mojang issue, not a Microsoft issue so I wouldn't get mad at Microsoft and though Microsoft can generate the codes with ease Mojang obtaining those mass amounts of codes might not be as easy.

Unfortunately that detail is not true. At the time I purchased Minecraft Java Edition it was directly advertised on the product page that you got both editions with your purchase. For anybody who bought under this circumstance they are absolutely obligated to provide these codes. Perhaps for other purchasers this is a gift but there is at least a small subset of us for whom the Windows 10 edition was directly part of the agreement.
I do agree completely that this is a Mojang problem, and yes Mojang has been bought by Microsoft but it appears their operations are separate enough such that Mojang is still responsible for supporting this and they are who we should be contacting. It's a shame their support is so non-responsive. I've tried multiple times to engage them by every means available to me (their bug tracker Jira, twitter, email) and have had no actual response.
I think our best hope to get attention and widespread awareness of this issue. It seems like there’s a few thousand of us with issue. Although that isn’t a significant number of people, if we could spread awareness, maybe then would Mojang be forced to respond. Spread the word, let everyone know. Our only real hope is to gather the community. Let’s comment on every Minecraft youtube video, Minecraft Sub reddit, or Minecraft forum. That’s kinda the only solution I can think of for getting Mojang to even acknowledge the issue.
