You will no longer be able to redeem your free Minecraft Windows 10 code from Mojang. This had to be done by Monday 20th April 2020.

.

.

.

So I'm trying to redeem Minecraft for Windows 10 (I purchased the game back in 2011) and I keep getting this error upon hitting the redeem button:

Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later!

Are there really no codes available right now or is this a error on my end somehow?

This thread has run its course and would be locked. Those seeking Minecraft Windows 10 edition should see a code on the redeem page.

Windows 10 Code Error - Fixed!

The redemption program would end on April 20, 2020 so make sure to get the code before.

If you purchased Minecraft Java Edition before October 18, 2018, you will see a button that says “Redeem” in your account.

·       If the button is grayed out, you’ve already claimed the code. Log in to your Microsoft account to redownload the game.

·       If you don’t have a Redeem button, you purchased Minecraft Java Edition after October 18, 2018 and are not eligible for this promotion.

update: 17th April 2020

Mojang are aware that there are no codes available at the moment, for those eligible. They are actively working on this and will get it working before the deadline.

    Hi,

I was able to get Minecraft on my account, so I'd like to explain a bit better why, I think, the results on this process are a bit hit and miss.

In order to understand what's going on, you have to put yourself in the shoes of the support teams at Microsoft, Mojang, really any big organization.

When you have a customer base of MILLIONS of customers to support on MILLIONS of products, it can get tricky.

The Mojang support team is probably not that big, so they can't really handle the volume. The Microsoft team is able to handle volume, but they don't have the tools and process to interact with your Mojang account and confirm that you indeed own Minecraft Java Edition.

The part where ElleBee2's mentions you have to say you want to _upload a picture of your error message_ is very important. Another thing you should do, copy the link to ElleBee2's post and say you want to have the exact same thing you had. If the email on your mojang account and the email on your microsoft account are the same you might just get it. But remember that you are asking them to add a game to your account for free, with as only evidence a screenshot that could've been altered ( really, I'm surprised I got it ! ).

Be patient. Do not say things like: "I feel like this", "I am entitled to", etc... When you say things like that you will cause the customer service agent to become "armored up". It's not only WHAT you say, but HOW you say it. This will have a huge impact on your success. The peoples in Microsoft support teams are great ! They are polite, respectful, kind and try to help. But they are not engineers, they are bottom of the ladder worker who are probably having a hard time understanding your request. So be patient, be understanding, don't become the bad guy, be the guy they want to help! Be the guy that they wont want to leave hanging, be a bro ! ( or a sis yo ! )

    Good luck !
