You will no longer be able to redeem your free Minecraft Windows 10 code from Mojang. This had to be done by Monday 20th April 2020.

.

.

.

So I'm trying to redeem Minecraft for Windows 10 (I purchased the game back in 2011) and I keep getting this error upon hitting the redeem button:

Error! It looks like we've temporarily run out of gift codes for Minecraft for Windows 10. Don't worry though, more codes should be on their way. Please check back later!

Are there really no codes available right now or is this a error on my end somehow?

This thread has run its course and would be locked. Those seeking Minecraft Windows 10 edition should see a code on the redeem page.

Windows 10 Code Error - Fixed!

https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/360038403371-Windows-10-Code-Error

The redemption program would end on April 20, 2020 so make sure to get the code before.

If you purchased Minecraft Java Edition before October 18, 2018, you will see a button that says “Redeem” in your account.

·       If the button is grayed out, you’ve already claimed the code. Log in to your Microsoft account to redownload the game.

·       If you don’t have a Redeem button, you purchased Minecraft Java Edition after October 18, 2018 and are not eligible for this promotion.

update: 17th April 2020

Mojang are aware that there are no codes available at the moment, for those eligible. They are actively working on this and will get it working before the deadline.

Its no bug, they done this a few times before, its simple on what it is. Giving out the codes is a possible loss on people buying the win10 version that simple, they are trying to force us to just give up and pay them more money.

Its a very simple tatic they have used a few time before, this is not at all the first time this has happened and wont be the last if they ever have it work again, try searching harder there is a ton of posts about this happening before.

I barely scanned the posts search, under duck duck go, and with in the first 10 i seen some from 2017.....................................

And it was litterly the exact same problem as now, a claim that they run out of codes, a probley that is fixable with in a week easily, let alone over a month, and the fact they will not even respond at all to there support tickets expect with a email saying they are back logged.... i wonder why, they are back logged probley 1000 people messaging them about this due to them not fixing it at all.

If you took the time to read threw the posts you would see this was all said before, but lazy people reading 2-3 and commenting on a 11 page forum is kinda, well use your brain and figure it out.

    This year:

Im also seeing posts of this problem from back in feb of this year..................

I wonder if they were hacked somehow. That's the only explanation I can think of assuming it was running properly to begin with and since there is no answer / statement yet from Mojang / Microsoft about it.

While the underlying data type of the code seems to be long, it is still finite and the hacker may have forced the generation of all of them or they don't know how to stop the hacker from further generating codes for bogus accounts or accessing the system to do something else or the hacker corrupted the system and they can't recover it.

Since this also translates to no revenue, priority is low and they can't risk exposing the bug any further which would lead to revenue loss. Also, the original development team has moved on and there is only a support team which has no clue what to do as they are only second grade developers who also did not get proper knowledge transfer of the original design / code.

Whatever it is, let's hope they find the best person to solve it ASAP.
