My Microsoft Order is still Pending

So i ordered a Surface laptop 3 on December 1st, and I know that is black Friday so there were probably a lot of orders but i would love to have some sort of reassurance that my item will be delivered on time. It's been stuck in pending literally since i hit purchase and it says that the estimated delivery date is Dec 12, but that's in three days, and i highly doubt it'll get here by then if it still hasn't shipped. I have a trip to go on a few days after it's supposed to arrive and it would be nice to have my new laptop for it.

Why doesn't Microsoft do better with the orders page? It should tell you if there's an issue or if it's sold out or if there's just a high volume of orders and that it may not arrive on time. I'd feel much better if it just gave me something, like Amazon does.

Anyway, is there any way to find out the true status, more than just a lousy "pending"? And maybe a eay to ensure it gets here sooner, like pay a little extra?

Thanks. I've purchased it from Microsoft directly.  It is my first time buying these type of "high demand" items so all a bit too much! So just wanted to confirm this was usual in cases of purchasing high demand products.

I had an email confirmation from Microsoft to say delivery date is 8 December, which I am happy about.  A lot of rumours and threads kept saying not to expect it until the end of December that had me a little worried.

    Thank you for replying anyways.

I ordered an Xbox Rechargeable Battery + USB-C Cable last Saturday.

5 days later my order is still pending.

Disappointing how slow it is to even start the order processing.

    A few things:

While your delivery date was estimated as Dec. 8th, the vast majority of orders are being given a date of Dec. 23rd. In fact, I've read dozens of accounts of customer service representatives confirming the latter date.

Microsoft has been making pre-authorization charges to accounts that have ordered. This is normal, as they want to ensure that ample funds are available before moving ahead with the order. Keep an eye on your account, though, because many people have experienced multiple pre-authorization charges, causing some accounts to dip into negative funds. Personally, I've been charged and then refunded at least three times for pre-authorization.

This certainly isn't ideal, as many other online marketplaces have been able to ship their stock by the promised delivery date (I was told Nov. 12th when ordering from the MS online storefront). The real issue is that MS misled consumers by claiming to have rapid delivery available for in-stock consoles; in reality, consoles ordered on release day have likely not even been manufactured. That, and the fact that thousands of dollars of funds are being drawn from accounts for products that won't be sent for many weeks.

    [end rant]

Apparently (or so certain corners of the internet have claimed), if you were given a delivery date of Nov. 12 (and have email/screenshot evidence), then you can get $50 credited to your MS account as compensation.
